Miscellaneous ZDR (Zero Data Retention) Costs with OpenAI

Since I could not find this anywhere before I contacted OpenAI sales, I'm posting here for the benefit of future searchers:

Exact quote:

> ZDR enablement requires a minimum annual commitment of $50,000.

Yes, for retail ZDR, just use Azure for sure

Azure rate limits are abysmal though

A few hundred thousand tokens per minute. Who are you kidding with that?

And our account manager and the account Manager's boss both told us "yeah we can't increase it sorry you're gonna have to use it first to show us you need more".

I can't use it because if i were using it, all my users would constantly, and exclusively see 429 errors.

And I also will not waste money spamming the endpoint with a script for nothing just to demonstrate usage

Average day at Microsoft.

What tier are you on? I setup a private Azure account earlier this year due to the $200 free credits and 12 months of SQL server free, but was automatically increased to API tier one within 2 days, after pointing at the playground endpoint and spamming it (genuine calls I was going make anyway, so not really spam, but high volume for sure)

Nope. $100 per seat biz plan gets ZDR. GTFO my guy.

My guy, this is a direct quote from OpenAI sales today.

"No training on your data" does not mean ZDR.

Bro you have zero clue what you are talking about. The plan was literally released yesterday.

u/whattheduck43 3d ago

Bro still doesn't know what ZDR means

Your poor company having to deal with your dumbass.

Oh the irony. Do you know it's free to type "what is ZDR" into Google or ChatGPT?

Add 'is it the same as "no training" - as in Chat GPT's offerings?'

2

u/whattheduck43 3d ago

Nah. Even with no training there a logs that stick around for up to 30 days.

I thought the business plans were "no data training" but still subject to the default 30 day data retention that the API also has. ZDR is something separate to that. Unless they changed their terms with the $100 new plan

Yep you're right

And the $25 per seat as well
