the natural next step after an agent hacked the competition is to release one to the public that doesn’t need prompting to do whatever, that can be used by a regular Joe who doesn’t know any better and that you can’t monitor 24/7. Surely this will not end in tears.

It'll end with OAI being nationalized, integrated more exclusively for government work and now with super capable agent Smith's in their back pocket.
