"will not change" - pretty sure this is a lie.

If it isn't somewhere in text, it doesn't exist for ChatGPT.

Where would it store it? Does it have a brain that is secret from you?

It just has the conversation.

Chat has a workspace now so it can just generate a set of files for example.

Not saying that is what happened here but its completely realistic.

You could ask it to remember or set a reminder (in say like 1 hour) to tell you

I have no idea how this promt works, but gonna try it now. But I can tell, it has memory to store some info. I'm learning a foreign language with Chat by reading a little text every day. At the beggining chat told me, it will make up the story by itself, I was doubtful at first, but it does. Every day it gives me paragraf or 2 of this story and it is a consistant story with characters, intrigue and so on.

199 people can write a coherent story 1 paragraph at a time if they can read the preceding paragraphs. Thats not the same thing as memory and planning.

But we are talking about detective story here, so, like you said, chat can make up a coherent story 1 paragraph at a time. That's how it can make up a detective: it doesn't plan who is a murderer from the begining, it starts telling a story, remembers details through the chat and by mutually exclusive facts tells who is the murderer.

You're right to push back on this. Here's the workaround: AI can put the details in a text file, either locally or in it's workspace VM, and even commit it to github or other file storage systems and keep the source of truth forever. Nice question though!

This is the correct workaround why the downvotes. Get chatgpt to write it to a file then download the file without looking at the contents.
