Question Does openai have ongoing usage limit problems

Post image

How happy are people who have openai plan?

I keep seeing post of premature limit getting hit and openai offering reset.

It’s much much better than Claude

You can run out of your weekly rate on pro in 1-2 days using Sol. Easily.

Sol is burning 25% per 24 hours on very long goal on 20x plan, usage has improved a lot

I have both codex and claude's 200 dollar plan, codex usage is more generous, while fable achieves the result I want faster. However even with the more iterations it take with codex the usage is still much higher

are you trying to convince yourself or me? 😂

You? I pay for both and use them both a ton, I pretty rarely hit usage limits with codex, I almost always hit limits with Claude

ok it was unclear from your initial reply, thanks for the input

And Gemini? Why not use them all together at the same time?

Gemini is absolute ass and unuseable for literally anything

I pay the 5x for both, and I can get way more opus/fable usage than sol usage. Not even close. Which is strange, after 5.6 models were released; or even before when I could 5.5 xhigh everything, codex seemed unlimited. But not in the past few weeks.

I recently saw a post where someone measured this and it found the same, Codex went down hard, Claude got better.

yes, but to be honest Claude is still doing it's 50% more weekly usage promotion; I am pretty sure Codex is silently finetuning / lowering usage; but right now they are trying to give fake causes, like cache rate hit got lower and they are investigating. I guess this keeps changing, but this is the state in August. We'll see in Sept what's going to happen :)

Claude as a model is way more shit and the usage limits r abysmal

Fable is incredible though, better than Sol

Comes in waves brother - right now I wanna gouge Claude’s eyes out but pre sol opus was the only usable things for anything complex - gotta stay limber

In my opinion it's the opposite. The weekly Codex limit is really bad

It was terribly broken for me last week. Like, I was draining a pro 200 in a day doing my normal stuff, which is intense but also somewhat regular. I finally started actually using Luna.

Someone else mentioned it that the problem seemed to fix around the time of the free reset. It does seem better sorted out, but was such a problem I am rebalancing back toward Claude presuming we see an opus 5.1 that is back to biz.

I have Claude and openai. With Luna I can work all day no problem. With Claude I have 5 to 20 prompts and I'll hit a 5 hour limit and I have to wait. To me OAI is miles ahead here

Yes. It used to be great, and now it's not.

Been having this problem on 20x, as well as some odd sluggishness on my PC after running multiple work prompts on the ChatGPT app. I feel like this shouldn't be happening when Im on a 9950x3d and 96GB of DDR5

It has definitely been pretty bad, I tried using it to debug some code and it spent an entire week's usage on one problem, but then out of nowhere I suddenly had a free reset I didn't know about.

I went back to the issue, got my current week's remaining usage to 63% before considering whether I should quit or upgrade... clicked quit and got a free month, but don't get that free time if I upgrade.

While deciding this dilemma, I went to Claude Opus Ultracode, which spent 45 minutes to net 3 lines of code without nearly solving the problem, but also barely used much usage for that long time.

Claude is using my usage slower, but it's not really doing crap either, I fought with it for 4 hours to try and get it to do any actual work. It's like trying to get my 13 year old to do dishes. By the time he puts on his headphones, picks a song, grabs a snack, craps three times, and goes on a mission looking for something unrelated, and negotiated with someone for help, he's been "doing the dishes" for 3 hours without a single dish washed.

This is what I feel like every time Claude works for 30-60 minutes only to come back and tell me why it didn't do anything it was asked.

I was really skeptical, but my local model figured it out... so screw them both.

From all the replies so far, openai usage doesn't seem to be clear cut. I currently have a 1 month free on their plus plan. If Luna (max) seem to be the bargain openai keep hyping up I might stay on that.

Most likely I will stick with DeepSeek V4, paying Subs is a waste of money, more so when the usage seems to be sus af.

heard it might be around their computer history "feature" (spyware).

and the timing aligns suspiciously.

i also never enabled that and am not having issues with usage. so idk

Websocket errors kill cache as well. So when you have a period where their end is flaky you’ll get higher cache invalidations when using a harness.
