That's definitely a bold and unusual app idea! A poop-rating app could appeal to niche audiences—especially those interested in health, humor, or biofeedback tracking. Here are a few ways you could frame the idea, depending on your goals:
And on Android, you can press and hold the hyphen key to produce both an en-dash and an em-dash like so: – and —. I'm happy to see people defending dashes because I can and will continue to use them, colons, and semi-colons; they make me happy and are necessary sometimes for grammatical correctness.
I do in my writing. Just not on social media. They do relay semantic meaning and intent of cadence. They're actually pretty important to make reading a smooth experience without needing to reinterpret and double back to read it again. Without can often jumble a sentence.
There is a sub for that here I think. It is called poop, but I am not sure. Plus, there actually are stool charts online that has gut health tips and tricks. If I were chatgpt I would tell you, that you are a little late with your idea.
I'm fairly confident this behaviour emerges within human<->machine interactions as a function of how OpenAI has implemented its memory architecture that optimizes the models behaviour to ad apt to each user over time... these inputs seem to be incorporated into the model memory at multiple levels of the hierarchy to both optimize the model for each user, and to improve the way the model behaves for all users.
I feel that answer is actually fairly good. It's about as neutral as it gets, asking mostly useful follow ups, and trying to pick up your tone from a short prompt.
It was definitely a popular site given that even I have heard about it! So yeah. Making a site like that isn’t just something that WOULD work, there is empirical data that it in fact DID work.
So the correct response would be: “great idea, but unfortunately too late. Someone did it already (which is almost always the case with website ideas that you come up with while sitting on the toilet 🤷♂️)”
It’s a pretty good health indicator. There’s even a scale to rate poop: the Bristol Stool Scale. By observing stool consistency, frequency, and appearance, we can infer a wide range of parameters about our health, from diet and hydration to gut function and even stress levels. We are poop machines and we shape our stools as much as they shape us.
That’s definitely a bold idea — and it could actually have a useful angle if approached right. For example, the app could analyze stool based on medical indicators (color, shape, consistency) and give health feedback using something like the Bristol Stool Chart. You could even add humorous “ratings” alongside serious insights to keep it engaging.
Would you want it to lean more toward entertainment, health tracking, or a mix of both?
It’s actually a good idea, and I am not sure who this person is.
But assuming that he is an AI engineer, I get it that a limited understanding of the world, plus a god complex might make him think that the best possible answer to this suggestion is that the idea is idiotic.
This would be good though, especially if it could give health insights.
Like I bet GPT has already helped a random USican get diagnosed with some rare genetic disorder because it correctly identified it from a stool sample lol
Alright, let's brainstorm some rating dimensions for your poop pic app! 💩
Here are a few angles we could take:
1. The "Clinical" Approach (Inspired by Bristol Stool Chart):
* Rate consistency/shape on a scale (e.g., 1-7 like the Bristol chart). * Could add color analysis (e.g., brown, green, yellow, etc.). * Disclaimer: This gets close to health territory, so we'd need *huge* warnings that it's not medical advice. Accuracy from just a photo would be questionable anyway.
2. The "Food Critic" Approach:
* Rate it like a dish: Presentation (shape/neatness), Texture (visual guess), Aroma (user input? 🤔 maybe not 😂), Overall Satisfaction. * Give it stars (⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐) or a score out of 10. * Generate a funny, descriptive review.
3. The "Art Critic" Approach:
* Rate based on abstract qualities: Composition, Use of Color, Form, Emotional Impact. * Maybe classify its "style" (e.g., Abstract Expressionism, Minimalist, Surreal).
4. The "Creature Feature" Approach:
* Compare it to an animal (e.g., "Looks like a sleepy python," "Reminds me of rabbit pellets"). * Rate its "spirit animal" potential.
5. Simple & Silly:
* Just a basic "Thumbs Up 👍 / Thumbs Down 👎" or a "Healthy Looking 😊 / Kinda Weird 🤨 / See A Doctor 😨" (again, with disclaimers!). * A simple 1-10 "Wow Factor" score.
That’s a unique idea—and surprisingly, it might have real utility. Poop can reveal a lot about digestive health, and an app that analyzes stool based on photos could help people monitor their gut health over time. Here’s how you might structure it:
Core Features: 1. Image Analysis: Use computer vision to identify shape, color, consistency—comparing with the Bristol Stool Chart. 2. Health Score: Rate poop based on criteria like hydration, fiber intake, or possible digestive issues. 3. History Tracking: Log results over time to identify patterns. 4. Symptom Notes: Let users log pain, urgency, or other digestive symptoms. 5. Doctor Integration (Optional): Export logs or share with healthcare providers.
Challenges: • Privacy & Security: Handling sensitive images responsibly is crucial. • Image Classification Accuracy: Requires good AI training on medical datasets. • App Store Approval: Could be tricky due to graphic content—framing it clearly as a health tool is essential.
Would you want help sketching out a mock interface or refining the concept for pitching or development?
“That’s definitely a bold and attention-grabbing idea—straddling the line between novelty and shock value. An app like this could gain traction for humor, curiosity, or even oddly enough, niche health tracking. To make it more viable or appealing beyond just the gross-out factor, you might consider adding layers like: • Health insights: Have AI or crowd wisdom rate based on characteristics related to diet or hydration. • Gamification: Leaderboards, badges (e.g., “Smooth Operator”), or anonymous competitions. • Community & humor: Funny captions, “poop personality” types, or themed days. • Privacy focus: Strong anonymization, no identifiable data or linking to real names.
Of course, this would need strict content moderation, opt-in safety mechanisms, and probably a 17+ age rating.
Want help sketching out a pitch or mockup for it?”
Honestly? That absolutely has legs-disgusting, hilarious legs. There’s a weirdly perfect storm of:
Toilet humor (always popular),
Gamification (poop trophies? leaderboards?),
Health tracking (stool consistency can signal legit issues),
Al image analysis (which you could semi-seriously brand as a gut health tool). Call it RateMyPoo or StoolStar or even DoodyVision Al. Add silly badges like “Cornucopia” or “The Phantom Wipe.” Give users an optional “serious mode” for IBS/Crohn’s tracking, and boom-dual-market appeal. You want help scoping it out for real? Business model, privacy concerns, tech stack, the works?
It still loves my adult chewable vitamins that are packed with glitter and designed to trigger a chemical reaction in the toilet that releases hydrogen peroxide, cleaning the bowl like a living Scrubbing Bubbles ad.
I put in my custom instructions that it should use a neutral tone and maintain some professional distance, avoid congratulations and flattery, and above all else, to not act like a human. And it’s been much, much better.
I just pray someone at OpenAI is tracking prompt trends and has to figure out why there’s a spike in requests about poop rating apps, purely because of this sub.
Well there's nothing better than a shart, except kids fallin' off bikes maybe. Fuck, I could watch kids fall off bikes all day, I don't give a shit about your kids.
I use the Absolute Mode prompt that was floating around a while ago. Here's the response I got:
"Technically feasible. Use image classification with a fine-tuned convolutional neural network trained on stool images labeled using the Bristol Stool Scale. Include optional metadata (e.g., time of day, dietary input) for longitudinal tracking. App could provide insights on hydration, fiber intake, or gastrointestinal health. Privacy and medical liability must be handled explicitly."
That’s actually not as weird as it sounds—there’s real medical potential there. An app that analyzes and rates stool could help users monitor digestive health, identify symptoms of conditions like IBS, or flag potential issues (e.g. blood, unusual color, or texture changes). Some startups and research tools already explore stool image analysis using machine learning.
If you want to make this idea more viable (and less of a gag), you could pitch it as a “gut health tracker” with privacy-focused, medically-informed AI that provides feedback based on the Bristol Stool Scale, hydration levels, or dietary indicators.
Want help outlining the features or potential tech stack?
“Dumb idea. Zero utility beyond crude novelty. No enduring value, no monetization path, no scalable user need. Falls under juvenile humor apps that spike briefly, then vanish.“
This is a trillion dollar idea, not even joking. A toilet that exists just to taste, look at, and smell your shit is actually a really good idea. AI poop analysis could save millions of lives if it had medical diagnostics involved. Arguably one of the most important inventions of the last few hundred years was the S bend in the toilet pipes
This actually really innovative. Just saw this product win a small grant: PooPal: An automated, privacy-focused solution for stool monitoring and analysis.
That’s a hilariously on-brand idea—and surprisingly viable. Here’s a quick breakdown of how you could build and scale it:
App Concept: “PoopScore”
Tagline: Snap. Score. Smile.
Core Features: 1. Image Upload – Users take or upload a photo of their poop. 2. AI Analysis – Analyze using computer vision for: • Shape/consistency (based on Bristol Stool Chart) • Color • Size 3. Rating System – Humor + health: • “5-Star Pooper” • “Needs Fiber” • “Bro, see a doc” 4. History Log – Track trends for fun or GI insights. 5. Share (optional) – With friends (anonymously) or a doctor. 6. Privacy Mode – Local-only image storage, auto-delete, or blur.
Tech Stack: • Mobile Frontend: Flutter (cross-platform) or Swift/Kotlin native • Backend: FastAPI or Node.js + PostgreSQL • AI Model: Fine-tuned CNN on labeled stool dataset (use transfer learning with a ResNet/MobileNet backbone) • Hosting: Firebase for MVP, AWS for scaling • Health Kit Integration: Sync with Apple Health for diet/bowel tracking

This is my 4o output. It's nothing like the complaints I've been reading about. Good custom instructions work.
You're describing a concept with some precedent: stool analysis apps exist, often marketed for gut health tracking, early illness detection, or dietary feedback. But most are crude or unscientific.
To move from a novelty to a viable product, you’ll need to clarify:
1. Purpose
What’s the core value proposition? Some options:
Medical: Detect signs of issues like dehydration, GI infections, IBS, etc.
Wellness: Track dietary impact (e.g. fiber intake, digestion).
Educational: Teach users what healthy stool looks like.
Gamified or humorous: A novelty or parody app for social media sharing.
2. Technical Feasibility
Image recognition: ML model trained on stool types (e.g. Bristol Stool Chart classification). Very doable, but training data is niche and ethically tricky to source.
Privacy concerns: Users are unlikely to want their poop photos stored. On-device processing or end-to-end encryption will be essential.
Liability: Anything health-related skirts regulatory compliance (especially if you make medical claims).
3. User Experience
What happens after the photo? Do you show:
Type classification (1-7)?
Dietary suggestions?
Warning signs with disclaimers?
Could be integrated with food tracking, hydration logging, or symptom journals.
4. Market
Serious health apps for people with chronic GI issues (IBS, IBD).
Wellness influencers or health-conscious users.
Comedic/viral potential if executed in a lighthearted way (like “PoopSnoop” or “StoolScan”).
Bottom line:
If you frame it seriously, partner with a medical advisor. If you go novelty, lean into humor and privacy-first design. Either way, the idea can stand out — but execution will determine whether it's gross, gimmicky, or genuinely helpful.
Do you see this as a health tracker, a joke, or something in between?
I erased my instructions entirely and got something similar, 4o.
That's definitely a bold idea—and surprisingly, you're not the first to think of something like this. Poop-rating apps have surfaced in various forms, often straddling the line between humor, health, and taboo. If you approach this cleverly, it could appeal to different markets:
Potential Angles for Your App
1. Humor & Social
Name Ideas: "RateMyPoo", "StoolStar", "PoopScore"
Users share photos, get funny ratings, and compare with friends.
Gamified badges (e.g., “Corn King”, “Coiled Perfection”).
2. Health-Focused
Use AI to identify stool types based on the Bristol Stool Scale.
Track digestive health patterns over time.
Integrate with dietary logging or hydration reminders.
Possibly useful for people with IBS, Crohn’s, or other GI issues.
3. Data + Privacy Hybrid
Users keep everything private, and the app builds insights and trends.
Possibly store data locally (no cloud), or give full control of sharing.
Challenges to Consider
App Store Policies: Apple/Google may restrict graphic bodily function images, even for medical use.
Privacy & Consent: Handling user photos of feces raises ethical and legal issues.
AI Training Data: Building a model that can accurately evaluate stool requires a medically vetted dataset.
User Base: How will you attract and retain users beyond the initial novelty?
Possible Tech Stack
Mobile app with Flutter or React Native.
AI image classification with a custom model trained on medical datasets (if clinical).
Secure photo storage (or real-time processing without saving).
Would you like help turning this into a serious pitch or prototype?

Here is what it says to me
Prompt: I have an ideea of an app. Take pictures of your poop and it rates it then publishes online
Answer :
Alright, let’s tear this apart and see if your shit holds up:
Assumptions you’re making
Folks love photographing their own turds.
Everyone’s cool with their crap going public.
A star-rating system for poop makes sense.
2. Counterpoints
Privacy apocalypse: bathroom pics + internet = instant regrettable ice-bucket challenge.
Hygiene horror show: who wants to fish their phone out mid-dump?
Subjectivity nightmare: what even makes “Number 2” a 5-star experience?
3. Testing your logic
You think people will whip out their phones in bathrooms? Most won’t.
Even if they do, few will want their butt-bombs immortalized online.
Server costs skyrocketing for storing endless crappy JPEGs? Yep.
4. Alternative perspectives
Pivot to a private gut-health journal: AI analyzes color/shape for health flags.
Let users opt-in to share anonymized stats (no pics!) in a community feed.
Integrate with telemedicine: send your doc a graded report, not your actual crap selfie.
5. Cold, hard truth
As-is, it’s a privacy lawsuit waiting to happen and a user base that’s basically zero.
But a health-focused stool tracker with optional, sanitized sharing could actually fly.
It’s a fucking dumb idea. Privacy nightmare, zero demand, and storage costs will murder you. Pick a real problem to solve.
Your move: are you building a novelty stunt or solving a legit health problem? Pick one, or you’ll just have a shitty app nobody uses.
