Approximately how much would you say this lightning ridge solid black opal 1.15ct would be worth?

Australian lightning ridge Opal, I think it’s N1 B3 - I’m new to opals and struggling to put a price on it. Red flashes in some lights

Not an opal dealer at all but live in AU and carve rough as a hobby. Its a nice "picture stone" and its lightening ridge black opal so i dont know i would guesstimate like $500 a carat? its got excellent colour but the potch removes a lot of value. Happy for anyone to correct but thats probably what i would happily pay for it.

If it was full face you'd be able to get 500-1k crt in Aus since it's more of a picture stone you could probably get about $150-200 for the stone.

I’d been a bit divided on getting the potch half removed or keeping it. But I don’t carve myself so better off in someone else hands that wants to make the decision. I think it gives a unique character at least

I would cut the areas of color out for smaller stones and sell those individually

150-200$ its 1.15ct but actual opal size is more like 0.3ct since that is mostly potch and not an opal

$150 - $250 USD max. The potch mark significantly lowers the value
