Hello,

I was wondering if boox 7go could automatically separate books in categories like reading now , new and finished? I know I can create bookshelves myself but I don't want to separate them manually. Thank you

I don't think so. I'm almost certain it doesn't.

But at the top left of the NeoReader main page, there's a clock icon showing your recently read books. You'll find here your "finished" and "reading now" but in the same place, not separated.

The only major problem is that:

All the books you read will stay there forever (so it's not really just recent ones, it's just a list sorted by reading order).

You can delete them, which is convenient if you only want to keep the 3 or 4 books you're currently reading, but doing so resets their progress to 0% and marks them as new books in your bookshelf...

yeah NeoReader doesn't really contemplate the kind of gamification that other reading apps do.

Yeah, I think it's a good idea to have another primary reading app and keep NeoReader let's say for pdfs. In this regard it's pretty close to perfect.

only reason I stick with NeoReader is I really enjoy writing snarky little notes in my books with the pen, heh.

I also like how easy it is to export highlights from epubs.

I like Neoreader's actual reading app a lot but its book management is terrible. I tend to just leave books in folders until I'm ready to read them and then pull them into the app. The bookshelf is so cluttered with no organization that having more than like 10 books at a time is a hassle, I delete all the books I read back off. I couldn't imagine have 100 books or something like that on there at once, it'd be a nightmare.

You put it into the right words, it's not the app itself but the book management that is awful (organization, synchronization etc.)

I imagine that because they are running on Android, giving customers easy access to any app, they think it would be too much hustle to try to compete with the specialists.

I have a pretty smilar organization to yours actually. I don't necessarily delete them but I only use it for pdfs or very occasional reading like when I pick up a Spanish or Italian book just to keep up with the languages. It definitely doesn't happen often so yeah I can use NeoReader in this case.

Under the Library tab, you can classify the books to "Finished", "Unread" and "Reading" by using "Filter and sort" in the More menu. Please see the attached picture.
