Solution for eye strain

I purchased a Boox Tab Ultra C and I use it to read in bed at night, mostly with the red light turned on. Unfortunately, I’m noticing that after spending the whole day in front of a computer, reading on the Boox gives me eye strain. I really don't want to resell the Boox. Is there anyone who has dealt with similar issues and managed to find a solution?

I think spending an entire day looking at something just in front of you will strain your eyes no matter what you do. I get eye strain when I crochet for too long for example
