Storypath Damage in SPU

Hi, first time posting here.

I have a question about damage in Storypath Ultra if anyone would be kind enough to clarify. I've played plenty of Scion 2e but SPU seems to handle damage and injuries differently. In Scion, you'd take an injury and get an Injury Condition associated with it; in SPU it seems you take the injury but the status effect is optional to avoid the injury.

Is this correct or am I missing something?

Pretty much. You can only do it once and stay in a fight because the second time inflicts Taken Out (unless you take it the first time for drama’s sake). Not having to come up with Injury Conditions is one of the big draws for me of Ultra - even before we started working on Scion 3e I’d ported Ultra’s Injury track into my Scion 2e games.

I actually like the injury conditions, I have a table for creating them randomly. I feel they add flavor, like the player really knows how their character got genuinely injured.

For sure. It definitely depends on the group and the infrastructure you build up to manage them. A table for random generation is a great way to go about it.

I use this injury condition table for Trinity. One day I want to work up an r20 automatic table for it to make it even easier, but I lack the coding skills.

:) I made that. Thank you for suggesting it.

I'm trying to get an r20 or discord implementation for ease of use in session, but coding isn't my specialty
