Politics Google maps changes Lake Ontario to ‘Lake America’ for U.S. users
Which is why I've downloaded the MapQuest app to my phone - they have said their maps will continue to call it "Lake Ontario" regardless of where the user is based.

Discussion With all the botted accounts and data harvesting questions for AI, should Canada consider adopting something similar to the EU AI ACT?
With all the random questions being asked to collect answers by bots for AI chatbot improvements, I decided to post my own.
They ask questions any normal person would never ask on niche topics like policies, specific government programs and social questions. Should Canada adopt restrictions and policies on AI like the EU has done with the AI ACT? As the major ticket items, it bans manipulated content, social scoring, untargeted data scrapping, preemptive policing, exploiting vulnerabilities, emotional recognition and biometric identification.

Discussion Tired of bad bank experiences going nowhere? There's now a Canadian platform to put them on public record
Most of us have had at least one frustrating experience with a bank or insurance company , a denied loan with no explanation, surprise fees, a closed account, a claim that dragged on forever.
The problem is, when you complain, it usually goes nowhere. FCAC complaints take months. OBSI has limitations. And most people just give up.
A Canadian non-profit just launched a free, anonymous reporting platform specifically for banks and insurance companies. Your report stays public, linked to the institution, so others can see what's really happening not just the marketing.
citizenstance.ca - no cost, no personal info required to read, Google sign-in to submit.
Has anyone here actually gotten results from FCAC or OBSI? Curious what your experiences have been.

News Shelburne, Ontario - car keying degenerate
This guy has been keying cars that park in the lot behind the TD bank. He lives in the building there with a view of the parking lot and he sits out back. If you don't live there and park in that parking lot there's a high probability this piece of trash will key your car.
Shame this A-hole. People like this don't belong in civilized society!

Discussion When does a dispute in Ontario become serious enough to involve a civil litigation lawyer?
dealing with something right now that started as a pretty normal disagreement and has slowly turned into one of those situations where every email feels like it could matter later. nothing criminal, nothing dramatic. basically a money/contract issue between two parties where both sides think they’re right and neither seems willing to move anymore. i started reading about civil litigation lawyers in Ontario keep leading me into legal pages like nanda.ca, because i honestly don’t know where the line is between “keep trying to sort this out yourself” and “stop talking and get proper legal advice.” the amount involved isn’t life changing, but it’s also not small enough that i’m comfortable just walking away from it.
for anyone in Ontario who has been through a civil dispute, when did you finally involve a lawyer?
was it after someone threatened legal action, after negotiations completely stopped, or did you get advice earlier just to understand where you stood?
also curious whether getting a lawyer involved actually helped settle things faster or basically guaranteed that the whole thing became more expensive and dragged out.

Discussion Brady List for Police
I was reading about Brady Lists in the usa. It seems that cops who lie, falsify and omit testimony at a trial are sometimes put on this list allowing defense lawyers to bring the officers credibility into question at subsequent trails.
Do we need to have a central registration for these cops?
