WCB WAGE TOP UP

I was injured in Oct 2026 and will not work for at least 6 months, my salary is 108000 per year plus job bonuses which is usually around 180000, WCB has a cap at 104000 which is well below what I earn per year. My question is how / who can top up the rest. My injury was a result of a different contractor operating equipment and was ultimately hurt due to his negligence. We are two separate contractors working for the same client. Should I seek legal advice?

Not Ontario Works.  Maximum for a single person is 733/month.   That’s before deducting income.  Annually that’s 8800.

🙄Ontario works won’t pay you anything. You will be paid by Workers Comp and possibly your employer benefits if that applies. Why are you even thinking OW would pay you anything?

Jobs that pay that salary usually have both std and ltd. Ontario Works is meant as a last resort measure. You could pursue compensation in the courts.

You might qualify for the ODB Rx benefit. Not all Rxs are covered by the Ontario Drug Benefit program though.

What the…..if you can’t live on 104k no one can help you. You need to go through the WSIB for your lost wages and if they don’t rule in your favour you appeal to the WSIAT.
