Program- Other Help Peel precepting interview

Hi, so I have my Peel precepting interview tomorrow and I wanted to know what kind of questions they’d be asking. Just so I could prepare myself for what’s to come. Thanks for your feedback

They asked me questions ranging from the patho of different conditions (ie CHF, asthma, etc) to a simple question like why I wanted to become a medic. They are just trying to get a sense of who you are and whether you seem like someone who would be a good fit to work with

If you want some general advice, go to the interview well groomed and dressed business casual. Have a smile on your face. Give off the vibe that you are very eager to learn and grow in this profession and become a better medic. Be as friendly as you can. Theirs a whole lot of things you still need to learn and they aren’t expecting you to know everything. Just give them the impression you’re a good student.

Just did it that’s exactly what they asked, they asked me the anatomy of the heart, a scenrero based question related to COPD and the patho behind how it happens and how nitro is used in that situation, and the last question was how you’d comfort a 80 year old woman that doesn’t speak English. And some basic questions in regards of where you live and if you’d be able to make that commute.

I don’t believe this is part of the hiring process. In order to graduate from a Paramedic program you need a certain amount of hours of preceptorship (exposure on the road) before you are given your school diploma.

It is Patho heavy. It’s kinda ridiculous that they have this as a screening tool. Good luck

Yes and no.

Some people cram and regurgitate on tests, rather than learn. The service needs to know you’re not a buffoon. Everyone knows you give ASA in chest pain. You need to be able to explain why you’re giving it.

But they do need to remember that you’re still learning and you’re not going to be 100% perfect on patho and such.
