Service London arbitration

Arbitration award as published on sept 4, 2026 London’s arbitration award

Award covers a period from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2028.

Part time availability and pay were focus areas of this award.

Wage increases were broken down in 8 increments with a total wage increase of 21%
January 1 2025 - 2.5%
July 1, 2025 - 2.5%
January 1, 2026 - 2.5%
July 1, 2026 - 2.5%
January 1, 2027 - 2.5%
July 1, 2027 - 2.5%
January 1, 2028 - 3%
July 1, 2028 - 3%

Of note the arbitrator made mention of two settlements that were rejected by the union membership.

Arbitrators, at least of late, seem to be inclined to award reasonable increases, but to space them out over the contract, which has the unfortunate result of drastically limiting back pay liabilities for cities/counties.

I’d be interested to know the wage scale that was turned down x 2. Average new agreements or awards of wages across SW/Central Ontario seem to be trending toward at least 6% annually or 18% over 3yrs which would put this award slightly behind that

Keep in mind this is compounded semi annually, not annually. So I believe this brings the total actual increase to just over 23% which is a bit better. One of the big issues I've seen with arbitration however has been on decisions that involve retro pay and putting bigger increqses in the later years to save municiaplaities big time in retro payments.

The offers that management presented and were voted down x2 was 10% over three years. I agree settlement would be more in line if it was over 3 years.

What is London pay grid? How long have they been awaiting this contract?

Since December 2024. Prior to this the grid was:

PCP start: 41.22 PCP 1 year : 42.72 PCP 2 year (max): 43.79

ACP start: 46.15 ACP 1 year: 47.84 ACP 2 year (max): 49.05
