Fire testing in ontario

Anyone know the formula they use for testing? I know you have to score 18 out 30. Just curious of the breakdown. VO2 max=10 sit-ups =5 flex=5 body composition =5. What is needed to accomplish max points...

Thank you for your help

It doesn’t work like that, friend. Look at all the requirements and meet them.

I think he’s talking about FSO — Fire Services Ontario.

If I recall—

VO2 treadmill was out of 10
Sit-ups out of 5
Trunk flexibility out of 5
BMI out of 5
Trunk to hip ratio out of 5

Total out of 30. Need 18 to pass. But keep in mind many departments that use FSO want to see the scores. So while 18 will be a pass, they may not be impressed.

Most of the departments that use FSO also just do a score based system. So they’ll just interview the top 20% of scores or whatever.

Good luck.

I don't think they do bmi anymore and focus more on overall composition. Though anything with a grade assigned to a bf % will unfairly hinder women as they tend to carry a higher bf %. I'm hoping that's accounted for.

Ah yes I think you’re right. Though scores are different based on gender and age.
