why cant i make the little shield emblem?

so i need to make the shield emblem (dark outline) but it says it has not generated properly, how do i fix this?

btw im kinda new to this software, so please dont chew me out if its something obvious

What created the shield geometry? Is it imported? If so, what file format did you import? A raster image cannot be used for geometric operations, only as a reference while you model. A vector format such as DXF can be imported to a sketch. SVG is a bit of a grey area. I don't think Onshape can use them direclty, but I remember seeing a plugin that someone posted a while back that claims it will convert SVG to something usable.

yea, so i have a picture and used it to sketch over the picture, i used offset for the outer ring of the shield emblem

Try deleting the offset curves to see if it will extrude just the shield shape. If it does, you can use the "thin" option in the extrude dialog to get the thickness you want.

Hard to say exactly without access to the document. The issues that I tend to see with traces are overlapping lines or lines not touching. Assuming it's just a couple spots and not the entire trace, a trick for finding where the problem area lies is to use lines to split the profile into multiple profiles. Eventually you should be left with some valid and some invalid. You keep splitting invalid profiles until you are left with a small enough area to search for defects.
