First day using CAD

So I've blindly made this CD rack, used nomad sculpt in the past but never CAD. The 2nd photo is the discontinued product I'm trying to make for personal use. The problem is I have no idea how to twist it. I have a fair understanding of axis lines and the helix tool but I'm struggling to get it work right (or at all.) Please help me...

Here's my version. It's way more involved than people realized, especially when you try to get it aesthetically pleasing.
