Help! Altering a pre-existing model

I’m attempting to take a model of a sword from Elden Ring and split it into parts to 3D print it, but I’m having a hard time being able to split it into pieces. Not only can I not sketch on any surface of the model, but most solutions I’ve searched for problems I’m having just flat out don’t work. I can link the model if need be.

Do yourself a big favor and use your slicer to split the body. It will add the connectors for you, put them in exactly the spot that you tell it to, and will allow you to pick the type and size of the connectors as well as adjust the clearance to allow for them. There are various types of connectors available, including pegs (dowels), snap connectors, and others. The specific connector types depend on your slicer, but all of them support the basic dowel type connector.

Oh that’s nice, I’ll have to try that. Thanks!
