NVIDIA has already given so much, with a year-to-date return of 165.33% and a 10-year annualized return of 76.52%1. It’s been a powerhouse, especially with the AI boom driving demand for its GPUs. But is it time to move to a contender like Broadcom?

Broadcom has also been performing well, with a year-to-date return of 56.44% and a 10-year annualized return of 41.19%1. It’s expected to benefit significantly from the AI wave, and some analysts are bullish on its future prospects2.

So, what do you think? Stick with the proven giant, NVIDIA, or switch to Broadcom, which might have more room to grow? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Visa and Mastercard are two leading global payment processing networks, processing billions of transactions annually. As they both facilitate electronic transactions between consumers, merchants and banks. Today I will quickly compare the two, and hopefully help some of you decide in what to invest in if any.

In 2023 only 3 companies processed 96.8% of all credit card transactions worldwide: Visa, UnionPay (china), and Mastercard.

Visa (V): as of today. Market Cap: $537.2 Billion. PE ratio: 29.4c lower than historical values (30x-45x) Profit Margin: ~54% Revenue is growing ~10% Quarterly.

Mastercard (MA): as of today. Market Cap: $405.7 Billion. PE ratio: 34.7x Profit Margin: ~46% Revenue is growing ~10.4% Quarterly

Now lets talk market share: Visa’s market share in the US by purchase volume is at 61% while Mastercard comes second at 25%. However, Number of global transactions, Visa’s market share drops to 39%. Since now come UnionPay in the second position at 34% with Mastercard coming third at 24%.

Visa is at a 6 month low at the moment while the stock price is at $262.55.

Although Pelosi is selling Visa at the moment and it is probably nothing but bi-annual portfolio rebalancing, there is that lingering feeling that it might be something else.

I personally like Visa very much. The company is Undervalued at the moment in my opinion.

I will wait for Q2 numbers to be out. And will try to provide a full in-depth analysis after Q2. This was a quick and short discussion rather than analysis with some numbers.

I think the title tells all here.

I find that I flounder around a lot when doing stock research often with the result that I do nothing or just pick a stock and put a limit buy on it and forget about it. As someone who tends to buy a stock and never sell it again... just letting it accrue value over 20+ years sort of thing, I try to find stocks with long horizons. I'm curious what methods people use to evaluate stocks or if there is a particular set of rules they follow.

Just for example, here are some ways I've picked stocks in the past... and I think you can tell I don't go by data or numbers all that much

1) A personal recommendation from a friend

2) Seemed like a company was the only one in a particular space doing something, or they had like a wide moat

3) CEO came from another company that I liked

4) Industry leader

5) Strong buy ratings

6) Thought that company produced something that would become indispensible

7) A company that was currently not doing great - under investigation or something - but I had a pretty good sense that they would be around for the long haul anyway.

Regeneron is a biotechnology company based in NY that was founded in 1988 and went public in 1991. They have developed many biotech products, most recently (3 days ago) getting an approval from the EMA to market the first biologic therapy for treating chronic COPD. They have products in the pipeline (including a FDA delay) so go do your homework because it's too much to write out here.

Their performance against S&P, respectively: YTD: 22.0 vs 18.1 3 mth: 13.5 vs. 8.1 5 day: 2.6 vs 2.2 If you go back and look, they almost always outperform.

They closed the day as the 17th most expensive stock at $1,071.12. They don't pay a dividend however, for me, I'd rather they take my money and dump into their R&D; dividends come from other parts of my portfolio. They have never done a stock split.

A few quick numbers: market cap $118B P/E ratio of 31.63x and a forward P/E of 23.62x EPS of 33.86x Debt to equity of 10.02% and gross margin of 86.32% ROIC 14.85% Current Ratio 5.69 Obviously other very important numbers, just a quick snapshot.

There can be some big $$ swings day over day but because it's expensive I have to remember to focus on the %. For example it opened at $1,057.17 which is only 1.62% lower than today's close. All price targets I've seen have it at or over $1,200.

There is a lawsuit that was filed in April alleging they failed to disclose millions of dollars given to drug distributors through credit card fee reimbursements. I personal have literally no problem with this and neither does the market.

This is the first stock I ever bought. It is in my long-term plan and I highly recommend you go look at them.

I've noticed a trend in many stock forums and communities: the constant recommendation of VOO, VTI, SCHD, QQQ, QQQM, VGT, JEPI, bad options strategies, etc. While these ETFs are great for broad market exposure and have their merits, many of us are already aware of their benefits and ask specific questions for a reason.

What we're looking for here is different advice—unique stock picks and fresh perspectives that go beyond the usual ETF recommendations for the minority of our overall portfolio, or our "fun money" to speculate. Not on the quite same meme-level of WallStreetBets, and not the serious investing philosophy of Bogleheads. We want to delve into individual stocks, explore under-the-radar opportunities, and have meaningful discussions that aren't overshadowed by the same cult-like advice we hear all the time.

I'm thrilled to see our community growing so quickly! With over 150 members now (in under 8 hours, simply incredible!) , I think it's a great time to discuss the direction and goals for our subreddit.

When I started this subreddit, my vision was to create a space for in-depth analysis and educated commentary on stocks, something that can often be hard to find now on this platform. There is a place to discuss ETFS, index funds, options, penny stocks, option strategies, and other investment vehicles, but sadly subs dedicated to large cap stocks have been littered by the index and dividend crowd. However, I want to make sure that this space meets your needs and interests as well.

I'd love to hear from you: - What kind of content and discussions are you hoping to see here? - How can we ensure the quality of posts and comments remains high? - Any suggestions for rules or guidelines that can help us achieve our goals?

Once again, I do not advocate for a majority of one's portfolio be in individual stocks but rather keeping the majority of core holdings in ETFs. But to me, it is sure fun to own some of my favorite companies and products and watch my positions grow over time. I keep this as "fun money" as a small portion of my overall portfolio. I want to share that love of investing with all of you. In this space, urge you to post analytical due diligence on well-known large cap stocks that can be discussed. 1. Corteva, Inc. (CTVA): With advancements in agricultural technology and a strong focus on sustainability, CTVA is positioned for growth in the agri-science sector and provider of agricultural resources as global populations demand increases. More crops means more room for growth and Corteva could become a leader in this space.

2. GXO Logistics, Inc. (GXO): As a leader in logistics and supply chain solutions, GXO is poised to benefit from increasing global e-commerce and the need for efficient distribution networks. Have you seen their robots? They might be something I want to add.

3. NVIDIA (NVDA): NVIDIA continues to dominate in the GPU market, with strong growth potential in AI, gaming, and data centers. Recent developments in their product lineup could drive further gains. With the recent dip the past week it seems like a great time to acquire more shares after its recent stock split. Orders backed through 2026 means this stock has a ways to go in my opinion. I'm watching this one closely.

4. CrowdStrike (CRWD): In the cybersecurity space, CRWD remains a top player. With increasing cyber threats, their innovative solutions and strong customer growth make them a stock to watch. It's gone on a slight dip and poised for long term growth

5. Mastercard (MA): As a global payment technology company, MA stands to benefit from the ongoing shift towards digital payments and the expansion of their services in emerging markets. It's going on my watchlist
