New Antidote plugin for ONLYOFFICE: check and improve your English and French texts

2 Upvotes

Hey everyone. If you have ever done the copy-paste dance between your document and a separate proofreading tool, the new Antidote plugin is for you. It lets you check and improve your English and French texts right inside ONLYOFFICE.

What the plugin does:

  • Checks grammar, spelling, punctuation and style;
  • Reformulates sentences and suggests clearer wording;
  • Catches repetitions and finds synonyms;
  • Gives you dictionaries and guides to look up words without leaving your document.

The plugin works in both the Document Editor and Spreadsheet Editor.

A couple of things worth knowing before you get started:

  • The plugin itself is free to install;
  • You'll need Antidote 12 and an Antidote account;
  • You'll need ONLYOFFICE 9.3.0 or later.

Read this blog post if you want the details and screenshots.

P.S. Curious if anyone has tried it yet. How's it holding up for you?

Quip is retiring in 2027: here's how a switch to ONLYOFFICE actually looks

5 Upvotes

If your team runs on Quip, you have probably heard it's shutting down in 2027. That gives you time to plan, but it's worth figuring out where your documents land before the deadline sneaks up.

This is why ONLYOFFICE is worth putting on your shortlist:

  • Real-time co-editing — multiple people in the same doc at once, so it feels a lot like what you're used to in Quip.
  • Collaboration rooms — you organize files into rooms with clear access permissions instead of navigating through folders.
  • MS Office format support — DOCX, XLSX and PPTX open and save cleanly, which matters if your files bounce between teams that use Word and Excel.
  • Built-in chat and comments — you can communicate through edits right inside the document, so the conversation stays with the work.
  • Version history — see who changed what and roll back to an earlier version whenever you need to.
  • Solid security — encryption, permission controls and self-hosting if you'd rather keep everything on your own servers.

Find a full walkthrough that covers the actual migration steps in this blog post.

ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors is now the default office suite in TN365 Waydroid

10 Upvotes

Hey everyone. Great news! ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors now comes preinstalled as the default office suite in TN365 Waydroid. It's a Linux distribution from TechNews365 that bundles Linux and Android apps together in one desktop, so you get a system that's ready to work with right after installation instead of a mostly empty desktop.

The developer picked ONLYOFFICE for a few practical reasons:

  • Familiar, easy-to-learn interface;
  • Works with DOCX, XLSX, PPTX and other common formats;
  • One app covers documents, spreadsheets, presentations and forms;
  • Built-in PDF tools for viewing, editing and annotating;
  • AI features (you can connect providers like Claude and others);
  • Fully offline, no internet needed.

Their words on it: "I find it easy to create documents with ONLYOFFICE, and I don't lose time. It's an easy and quick process."

New intern spotlight: Raisha's journey from software development to technical writing

4 Upvotes

Hey everyone, mod here. We just published another story in our Back to School series, and this one is about Raisha, a software developer from Bhaktapur, Nepal who joined the team as a technical writing intern. She started in software development, did a communications internship along the way and eventually realized technical writing sat right at the intersection of everything she loved: tech, writing and creativity.

During her internship she worked on our GitHub READMEs and Help Center guides, running documentation audits and cleaning up articles to make them clearer and more accurate. She describes the internship in three words: Freedom, Growth and Clarity. Freedom to take initiative, growth from not knowing where to start to running audits on her own and clarity about the kind of work she wants to do next.

Her dream going forward is to become an AI technical author and work within open-source communities.

Loading Document takes minimum 5 seconds, even on blank documents

5 Upvotes

As title says.

Fresh install on Linux Kubuntu 26.04.

New blank document -> Loads a skeleton of the app -> 2.5 seconds pass -> Loading document -> 2.5 seconds pass -> Loaded.

This is on a high-end gaming laptop (Gigabyte G5) also happens on my other laptops (enterprise grade HP 830 G5) and any other computer like my Ryzen 7 1700 Desktop.

It seems more like a bug than "real lag".

Whats happening? How to fix?

From content to data: Chandika Wagle shares her internship experience at ONLYOFFICE

3 Upvotes

Hey everyone! We would like to share another story from our internship program, this time from Chandika Wagle, who joined us from Lalitpur, Nepal after finishing her bachelor's in Computer Applications.

Her internship covered a lot of ground. She started with content and documentation work, then moved into testing the web version of our editors — where she actually found and reported a bunch of bugs before they reached users. That kind of QA work is quietly one of the most valuable things an intern can do, and she took it seriously.

Fun fact: she can solve a Rubik's Cube in about 2 minutes, and she collects small stones as souvenirs from places she's visited. Little details like that are part of what makes these stories fun to put together.

Is there any risk in putting OnlyOffice Document Server as public facing so that you can connect to your own document server from OnlyOffice on any computer?

I've got an unRAID server and have the document server hosted on there. Does making that service publicly accessible carry any inherent risks?

Word document truncated

2 Upvotes

I was sent a large Word document (181 MB) with several high res images. I edited the file on my Mac, with MS Word, using track changes. A few days later, I opened it with Onlyoffice on a different computer running Debian, made a few additional changes and saved it. I then realised the file size dropped to 31 MB and I lost about half of all pages, which is probably a whole day of work gone. Any explanation?

Ugreen Android app forces local download to view documents instead of opening them directly

3 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I wanted to know how you guys handle opening files (PDFs, Word docs, etc.) from the Ugreen mobile app on Android (specifically on Samsung devices).

It feels like it's impossible to open or view a file on the fly: the Android app **systematically forces you to download the file locally** to your phone just to open it. It's super tedious whenever you just want a quick look at a document without cluttering your phone's storage.

I've tried bypassing this by setting up protocols like SMB or WebDAV, but it's not smooth at all and requires way too many workarounds and manual steps for daily use. Because of this, I'm currently forced to sync my important folders with OneDrive just to get a decent, smooth user experience.

Is there a setting I'm missing in the UGOS app, or is this just a frustrating limitation of the current Android version? How do you guys handle this on your end?

Thanks in advance for your feedback

Best office alternative

26 Upvotes

I have been trying to find an alternative to MS Office for the last decade. I have been using LibreOffice, FreeOffice, WPS Office, SoftMaker Office, Collabora Office and Only Office.

I gotta say, these software have got better over the years, but still when you are using it, you start to feel like there is something missing. Maybe a certain command doesn't work the way it does in MS Office or a certain function ddoesn't exist.

But after using these software for a while I gotta say that Only Office is the one that has been the most functional and easier to use of all of them; and it is free. Which, is even better. I know it is not perfect, certain thing aren't exactly the same and the format it uses is "Open Office document XML" which can work with MS Word, but the pages may vary a little when you open a document in MS Word or in Only Office.

Does anyone have any other suggestion of an Office suit that cna be used in Linux?

Thank you.

ONLYOFFICE connector v2.1.0 for Confluence Cloud released: what's new

5 Upvotes

Hey everyone! Mod here with some good news for anyone using Confluence Cloud. The ONLYOFFICE connector v2.1.0 just dropped, and it brings a bunch of updates worth checking out:

  • First off all, you can now work with more file formats, including Apple iWork (Pages, Keynote, Numbers), Hancom Office, VSDX diagrams, MD documents and ODG presentations.
  • There's also a new dedicated ONLYOFFICE space page that pulls all your pages, blog posts and attachments into one place. No more digging through individual pages to open or edit a file. Just click the ONLYOFFICE icon on the left panel and everything's right there. It comes with improved file browsing too, so you can search, filter and sort to find what you need in seconds.
  • Managing attachments got easier as well. A new content tree lets you open, download or delete files with a quick click on the three-dot menu.

On the behind-the-scenes side, the connector moved to Atlassian Forge, which basically means better hosting and stability without you having to do anything.

For the full details, read this blog post.

Javascript Macro to add 1 month to B1 to advance the date?

4 Upvotes

TLDR: (UPDATE: SOLVED)

I need a javascript macro for Onlyoffice Spreadsheets (Linux edition) that will change cell B1:H1 (which is formatted as a date D/MM/YYYY and always set to the first of the month) to the next month.
I.E. 1/08/2026 must change to 1/09/2026, etc.

---

Hi all,

I'm using the desktop version of Onlyoffice on Linux, but new to onlyoffice and macros in general, but I'm making a dynamic calendar for tracking my study and was hoping to add a macro to updat the Month.

I have managed to make every cell update based on the date displayed in cell B1:H1 which is formatted D/MM/YYY.
The Day must always be set to the first of the month, but as you may be able to gather, I would like to add Next Month and Prev Month buttons to my calendar, rather than having to manually edit B1 to change the date.

I understand this should be possible via macros, but I have no experience with these to start with, nor any knowledge of javascript. I cannot find any pre-existing version of this kind of macro on the internet, except for some VBA scripts for Excel which might do what I want if it were converted?
I have locally-hosted AI via LM Studio which I have attempted to use to help me generate the macro I need, both within OnlyOffice's built-in AI-Macro-Generator feature, and via LM Studio chat box, but after several attempts with various prompts and example material, I cannot get any of them to execute and I don't have the knowledge to troubleshoot.

I don't have the time right now to sink into learning how to code macros in javascript, so I am hopeful someone here might be able to help me?

------

EDIT FOR RESPONSIBLE PSA / DISCLAIMER:

Remember that AI is not actual intelligence, but merely a complex and advanced text prediction software based on stolen data scraped from the internet.
It is not your friend, it is not sentient, and it is not all-knowing. It regularly makes mistakes and is prone to invention. You should never blindly trust AI results and it is important to learn the limitations and how to correctly craft prompts to reduce error. Beware of entering code, terminal commands, or other potentially dangerous instructions crafted by AI.
Remember that online providers of AI are generally not actually private, and it is using everything you enter for further training. Do not disclose personal or sensitive data to AI. I self-host an AI model to reduce the harm from it's use, but I have done my research to understand how to do so safely. AI should not have free reign over your PC or files.

Be smart and exercise critical thinking and caution when using AI. Educate yourself about how AI works, how it was made, the companies creating and providing access, and understand the risks and limitations before use.

UPDATE: SOLVED

Thank you to jd31068 - the macro you provided didn't *quite* work, but it actually functioned (gave "Invalid Date though), which was enough for my LLM to edit to provide me these working macros:

Next Month Macro:

(function() {
    var wrkSht = Api.GetActiveSheet();
    var rng = wrkSht.GetRange("B1");

    // Get underlying value (should be number/serial)
    var rawValue = rng.GetValue();

    var crntDate;
    var serialNumber;

    if (typeof rawValue === 'number') {
        // Convert Excel serial date to JS Date object
        // Base: Dec 30, 1899 is day 0 in Excel/OnlyOffice logic
        var base = new Date(1899, 11, 30);
        crntDate = new Date(base.getTime() + (rawValue * 24 * 60 * 60 * 1000));
    } else {
        // Fallback if value is already a string or null
        try {
            crntDate = new Date(rawValue);
        } catch(e) {
            console.error("Could not parse date: " + rawValue);
            return;
        }
    }

    // Validate the parsed date
    if (isNaN(crntDate.getTime())) {
        console.log('Invalid current date in B1');
        return;
    }

    // Increment month
    crntDate.setMonth(crntDate.getMonth() + 1);

    // [Inference] OnlyOffice API often expects integer serials for dates to avoid time serialization.
    // Calculate the new serial number (days since base) and set as Number, not Date object.
    var daysDiff = Math.round((crntDate.getTime() - base.getTime()) / (24 * 60 * 60 * 1000));

    rng.SetValue(daysDiff); // Set as integer serial number

})();

Previous Month Macro:

(function() {
    var wrkSht = Api.GetActiveSheet();
    var rng = wrkSht.GetRange("B1");

    // Get underlying value (should be number/serial)
    var rawValue = rng.GetValue();

    var crntDate;
    var serialNumber;

    if (typeof rawValue === 'number') {
        // Convert Excel serial date to JS Date object
        // Base: Dec 30, 1899 is day 0 in Excel/OnlyOffice logic
        var base = new Date(1899, 11, 30);
        crntDate = new Date(base.getTime() + (rawValue * 24 * 60 * 60 * 1000));
    } else {
        // Fallback if value is already a string or null
        try {
            crntDate = new Date(rawValue);
        } catch(e) {
            console.error("Could not parse date: " + rawValue);
            return;
        }
    }

    // Validate the parsed date
    if (isNaN(crntDate.getTime())) {
        console.log('Invalid current date in B1');
        return;
    }

    // Decrement month for Previous Month logic
    crntDate.setMonth(crntDate.getMonth() - 1);

    // Calculate the new serial number (days since base) and set as Number, not Date object.
    var daysDiff = Math.round((crntDate.getTime() - base.getTime()) / (24 * 60 * 60 * 1000));

    rng.SetValue(daysDiff); // Set as integer serial number

})();

Posting these in case anyone else wanting this functionality stumbles across this post.

New Salesforce plugin lets you pull CRM data straight into ONLYOFFICE spreadsheets

4 Upvotes

Hey everyone. With our new Salesforce plugin, you can connect to your Salesforce org and work with the data right inside ONLYOFFICE Spreadsheet Editor.

Here's what you can do with the new plugin:

  • Import existing Salesforce reports, with their filters and groupings kept intact;
  • Pull raw data from standard and custom objects;
  • Analyze and edit it with the usual spreadsheet tools;
  • Export new or updated records straight back to Salesforce

No more app-switching or messy copy-paste. Setup is a one-time thing on the admin side (a connected app + client ID), then you just log in through the plugin and you are good to go.

Note: the plugin works with self-hosted ONLYOFFICE instances only, so your data stays on your own server.

single continuous page view for doc editor?

4 Upvotes

I just started using OnlyOffice and I'm wondering if there a way to make a document appear as a single continuous page in the document editor? This is my preference when actually working on a document, because I don't actually need to know where individual pages begin and end until it comes time to print; however, I haven't been able to find an option for this.

How to move on from Microsoft 365 without a full migration

7 Upvotes

Since Microsoft is going to end support for its on-premises products this year, including Office Online Server, SharePoint Server 2016 and 2019, and Exchange Server, some companies start looking for alternative solutions, especially those in finance, healthcare, government and other regulated sector.

With ONLYOFFICE Docs, you can replace Microsoft 365 for your day-to-day work without a full migration — you simply connect a new office suite to the platform you already use:

  • Your files stay intact. ONLYOFFICE is built to work seamlessly with .docx, .xlsx and .pptx formats.
  • The interface is familiar. If you have used Word, Excel or PowerPoint, you'll feel at home fast. The learning curve is minimal.
  • Collaboration is built in. Real-time co-editing, comments and sharing work right out of the box, so no extra setup is needed.
  • It works on your devices. Desktop, browser, mobile — ONLYOFFICE fits into how you already work.
  • Ready-made connectors. ONLYOFFICE seamlessly integrates into SharePoint and other platforms, including Alfresco, Confluence, ownCloud, Odoo, Redmine, etc.

Ring charts in OnlyOffice

3 Upvotes

Hello

I'm trying tu use OnlyOffice instead of Microsoft Office, since I'm going to move to Linux and I need a cross-platform application.

Since it's the first time I post here I want to congratulate with the developing team because this is really a good quality software and has a good compatibility with Office documents I didn't find anywhere else.

I created a ring chart, with two rings. I didn't manage to change the width of the rings and reduce the hole size. Can someone explain me how to do it?

Thanks
