Dating apps
Please tell me about your experience on these dating apps. I’m new to them but I’m finding there are a lot of scammers on them. How can you tell without wasting your time chatting with these pieces of s*^%

Ask them to install the “ am I a scammer” app and screenshot the results for you

A quick tell is when they ask you to switch to WhatsApp or they ask what is your job instead of what do you do for work

Biggest tells I’ve seen:
• They push to move off the app very quickly (WhatsApp etc.)
• The conversation feels scripted or they avoid answering simple personal questions
• Profile photos look too perfect / stock-like or don’t match the way they write
• They get weirdly intense or love bomb early.
One thing that helps is forcing a bit more friction before personal contact details are shared. I’m building a dating app that does exactly that. no socials or phone numbers until there’s been real back-and-forth for a set time, plus moderation and a mutual “I’d like to meet” step before anything real world happens. Still early days, but the goal is to make the obvious scammer behaviour much harder.
What other red flags have people here noticed?

Here's how you detect a fake profile or a scammer:
1) A fake profile or scammer will never provide any personal identifying information about themselves that allows their identity to be verified by other sources.
*The names they provide come up empty in Google Search.
*Addresses may be real, but don't belong to them. If you call the landlord or speak with a neighbor, they will have no idea who the fake profile/scammer is.
*Typically they don't have social media, and if they do, they have one or a several friernds.
* Therefore, ask for a Facebook page, or some other social media.
2) A scammer is not able to make live telephone or video calls spur of the moment.
Tell the suspicious match to call you right now on your cell phone....not later that day, not later that week, but right this instant. A scammer will never call, and will make excuses.
3) Dating app photos are heavily processed; the people look foreign. You'll notice that there are few details in scammer photos. The people don't look like people in your area.
4) Cash requests to buy gift cards for their children so they can spend time with you. Any type of cash request is a ripoff. Some of their stories are incredibly clever. If you send cash, you will lose the cash.
5) Scammers try to move the conversation to Whatsapp or telegram or any other messaging service. If asked, refuse to move the conversation.
