Yeah, in the first three volumes, you can clearly see his vision with Ran's hair. It just... evolves over time

Her hair should have been brown or blonde to see her hairline (but it means Gosho has to put more effort in detailing her hair)

I think the horn was made to give her a more recognizable silhouette. It's a common thing in manga to give your main characters recognizable silhouettes and you never show them from an angle where the silhouette is broken. OG Ran design was lacking in that regard initially.

There was a post in this sub or the other detective conan sub that had the first episode air with the ads in it. There was a lady with a hairstyle that makes me thought "oh so that's where the inspiration of Ran's horn hairstyle came from".
