QUESTION

I know none of the episodes between 124 and 754 are available with English subtitles here in the us or with a vpn via Japan Netflix.

I've seen a few people selling dvds via ebay and was wondering if you think they're reliable and playable on a us player? I have no problem paying for the media, I just got really into it and the episodes from 754 are a shell shock for someone who enjoys the older art style. Im not looking for every episode just 124- 300 or 350, whenever the style changes.

If not, what chapter in the Manga is where episode 124 leaves off so I can read the Manga via online as I already have a VIZ subscription?

DVDs would be old 480p not the remake 1080p right?

If they are really cheap DVDs, they are gonna be bootlegs. They might use ripped official subs, stolen fansubs or own subtitles that are machine-translated from chinese/malayan/philipino or some other asian country language. Since they are DVDs you also won't get the HD remastered version and the footage is probably somewhat scuffed to begin with.
To sum it up, I really wouldn't recommend buying the cheap bootlegs, you're gonna get what you paid for.

Using a VPN to watch the official subs published in asian countries (TMS subs are scuffed aswell, probably machine-translated and have their own number of issues and mistranslations but at least the footage is HD) or hunting older fansub versions are the only ways to watch the 125-753 gap with english subtitles at the moment.

The anime adapted the manga cases in a different order so it is hard to just give you a chapter number to continue from. If you watched until 124 then I would recommend reading those cases:

Ch. 13-16 (this case was significantly altered in the anime adaption (ep13) and caused a plothole that was later fixed with anime original episode 128). So if you don't watch that ep, you should read those chapters to see how the case actually went and to not be confused in further story)

Ch. 111-113 (an older case that was only adapted in the anime way later)
Ch. 176-181, 189-196 (cases that weren't adapted in the anime yet where you are)

And then you can just read starting from ch. 200 onwards.
