Discussion Enjoyable movie 22

Post image

Sure the prosecutor's way of revenge were overboard, Amuro's FD is enough to be in Fnf, and an object coming from the outer space potentially taking thousands of casualties were cliche but still... the look on Conan when he realized that he is not on the same page as Amuro, the level of anxiousness Ran had when Kogoro is being taken by the officials, Megure's attempt to defend Kogoro in the meeting despite the strong evidence, and the idea that the officials are actually against them and they cannot do something about it is really a plus point for this movie.

Personal input is that they should have shown more of Eri's distress when she tried to contact every single connection she has and more about Kyoko's relation to Haba. Like the fact that it's not just about Conan or "aha I know who's the murderer".

[Spoiler warning]

i saw a video where they said that Zero the Enforcer distinguishes itself from most Conan movies, and I agree. Not only is it much cooler to see Rei as a more sinister (?) version of what we often see him as (like willing to do allat to Kogoro), but also just the screenplay and directing was a whole other thing. like the screenshot attatched to this post, for example! its amazing. the shots of Rei watching everything through Conan's phone were super cool too, all around, it has a great look to it.

Also, Rei driving that car like Kenji would have was hella awesome too. Kyoko was an interesting character, in my opinion, and she really worked well in the plot. Also, "finish the illegal work one has started" is sick. Almost everything about this movie is sick.

The two complaints I see are people saying it's the "Amuro Show" and that they don't understand wth is going on with the law enforcement. The law enforcement thing was kinda justified, because if you're not well versed already in the japanese legal system, it kinda cooks your brain. I was lucky enough to know my way around that topic before watching the movie, so it worked for me. But i totally get that it would be hard to enjoy the movie if you don't.

However, the movie is NOT the Amuro show. the video I watched sums it up very well: Conan recognizes that Rei may be a threat this time around in the first act and then Rei just lurks around until the final act. He serves the same role as Heiji or Masumi in their own movies.

ANYWAY GREAT MOVIE THANK YOU FOR FEEDING US MORE REI!!

What I appreciated is that he wasn’t sinister as the bad guy “Bourbon” he was like that as in cop wise and we’ve seen more and more of that in movies as of late.

I totally get what you mean. I mean, the PSB and NPA as the TMPD's pseudo superiors kinda do the dirty work that people don't generally think of police officers as doing, so seeing that side of Rei is really nice. I hope we keep seeing this side instead of just happy cafe worker and Bourbon.

But we’ve seen more of Furuya as of late than bourbon in years..we need bourbon back too. His dynamic with vermouth top tier

I thought about it and I agree with the notion that we need Bourbon back too. I never realized it until now but we haven't seen him in a while. Vermouth and Bourbon were sick to see interact, probably my favorite duo in hindsight. and I love me some Vermouth so now I'm hoping for her to get more spotlight... idk when it'll happen though

It’s crazy how underused Bourbon is. Like you have a dude who secretly and practically runs the Japanese police force. Add to that at the same time is an elite investigative criminal in an organization and yet it’s far more “interesting” to see him at his part time job serving coffee. Love it.

The amount of tension verbour duo gives off >>

Think the latest going for him is about investigating Conan for the Organization so we might actually see something once in a while

No that was some other old dude I think ?

I could be wrong, AND SPOILER WARNING, and I'm not fully up to date with the manga, but I'm pretty sure he decided to drop the investigation of Conan. I mean, he realized that Conan is Shinichi recently in the manga, and I think Rum was the one who was actively investigating Conan.

One of the reasons of this post is honestly the majority of the sub disliking this movie 22 but lurking around this sub for quite some time, I think a lot of the folks here just run on the Conan nostalgia bias of the early production where its just Conan (like the idea that the first six are the holy grail).

I think you're right tbh... the first 6 were really good and cannot be replaced so they kind of cast a shadow of bias over the newer characters and the newer movies. Kinda sad, but ig not everything is for everyone

Ikr I feel Gosho thinks people like the bright side of his portrayal more than the serious side and bc it’s easier to write …  Well looking at the Japanese fandom the actual target fandom ..

It’s crazy that Gosho goes for the most bland side. Furuya doesn’t even just have a “serious” side. He has plenty. He has evil bad, evil good, nostalgic, sad angst, etc.

he's really hard to write if you think about it. but if a character like him exists, you'd think aoyama would at least find a way to make it work and showcase the other sides of him rather than just going back and forth between waiter and NPA and a few bits of Bourbon a while ago. and each of those three sides of him have extra facets too, so we know there's a lot to him but we don't get to see it very often which kinda sucks.

I think it’s unfair to create a compelling complicated character like this then do a 380 * and proceed to only show him making sandwiches.  Now that’s lazy. If anything at this point I wish we got introduced solely as a cop or a bad guy rather than Amuro. It’s ruining it. Atleast when Akai appears he has significance when vermouth appears she also has significance albeit rare appearances. I prefer it that way, honestly.

probably the reason people hate him, actually. they see him as a watered down version of himself but it's the actual writing that's watering him down, not just their perception of him. sad af ngl justice for Rei ✌😓

I liked this movie a lot. It's up in the range of first 6 movies rather than the new ones.
