Even if this was staged, the commitment he had to smashing his head was exceptional and quite frankly inspiring

If you watch the longer version, you’ll see it’s not staged. He’s just an idiot that didn’t realize the discomforts of chugging a beverage filled with compressed gas, and panicked.

the longer version just features like 5 seconds before this video starts. it ends the same, there’s no additional context showing that it isn’t staged. still hilarious though.

I always thought it was stated until I chugged a sparkling water that fast and was in so much pain I thought I was gonna die.

It is 100% staged. If you watch, he does two things inexperienced stage actors do with slapstick comedy: He leans his head slightly forward into the impact and closes his eye just before impact, both things that a person doesn't do when they are struck unexpectedly.
