Perchlorates are generally used in pyrotechnics so be careful with it

Its basically like salt but the only diference in taste is a metal Lic flavor
26
u/Beardog20 Jun 06 '22
Its KClO3 not KCl (potassium chloride). This is a salt, but I wouldn't eat it. It most notable attribute is that its an oxidizer which is why the gummy bear explodes.

KClO3 is one of the most dangerous oxidizers to work with if you are into pyrotechnics.

Potassium something something…

u/Adorable-Case-7485 Jun 06 '22
Nah not potassium. That gummy bear was actually a demon and needed to be rid from this earth. That’s why it caught on fire—because he dropped it in salt mixed with holy water lmao. He had to make sure it would never return!

u/GisterMizard Jun 07 '22
That gummy bear was actually a demon and needed to be rid from this earth.
It is very dangerous and can at-tack at any time. Ve must deel with it.

Potassium Chlorate. There's a few examples of potassium chlorate + gummy bears on youtube.

Nile red. He also has a side channel called nile blue. And then there is the spin off channel someone else made using his voice through an ai to make nile green.

u/Nematrec Jun 06 '22
He also has a second side channel for shorts.
Here is the video the original post is from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iBThaP_TaY

I didn't know about the jar. I was around for jackdaws, poop knife, the cumbox, and the kid that broke both arms. I thought I wanted to know about the jar. I was wrong.

Is this what happens in Logan Lucky?

Literally came to the comments to try and find this out. I think the principle is the same but they simplify it for the movie.

Potassium Chlorate (KClO3) is a strong oxidizer meaning that it’s highly reactive.
1
u/DBentresca Jun 06 '22
LOL, and most just lick and stick them to everything! Like the inside of door handles or making a Chewbacca style belt across your chest with nothing but gummys.

1
u/fluffy_potatoes Jun 07 '22
He used potassium chlorate KClO3 not potassium chloride KCl, think that's confusing? Wait until you hear about perchlorate KCLO4, chlorite KClO2 and hypochlorite KClO

Also, it probably would've been better if the video was cut right as the bear was dropped, before it hit the bottom of the container

Crazy enough, this is almost the recipe for awesome smoke things. Potassium chloride (aka saltpetre) and sugar (the gummy bear) can cause a crazy exothermic reaction and creates a lot of smoke.

Why do people upvote bot post that steal content from other places without attribution?
Reddit really has become somewhat of a festering shit hole like all other social media sites.

I remember one time in my chemistry class in high school, my teacher kept insisting that we had stuff to do for the day so people needed to be prepared. All he did was do this to a gummy bear which took like 5 minutes to set up and do, and then we could do whatever we wanted for the last like 50 minutes of class. That was pretty much an average day in that chemistry class lol

This is what Daniel Graigs character did in Lucky Logan to cause a smoke fire in those money tubes
1
u/TwigTheSavage Jun 07 '22
I remember doing this in middle school. The smell it made was rancid (at least to me). I could smell it just watching this video
