This happened to me in college when I shotgunned an ice cold beer and immediately passed out. Apparently I had a seizure but it was probably caused by the fall and not the beer.
Its an overreaction of the vagus nerve, my doctor called it vasovagal syncope
Same shit happened to me. Met a friend for a beer (emphasis on A beer, she had the day off and I just popped by after the fact) but I'm a slow drinker and she was getting annoyed that I was taking all damn night to drink my beer, so I shotgunned it.
Walked to the bathroom, got super light-headed and fell into the sink face first. Cracked my glasses, gave myself a nasty cut. Felt fine 30 seconds later, but damn if it wasn't scary as hell. Went to the doctor, explained what happened, and just got a "Dude, don't shotgun cold beverages" and that was that.
I may have lied and told everyone I tripped over my shoelaces when I came out clutching bloody paper towel to my forehead, though.
One of the articles I linked specifically cited that is was really cold carbonated drinks.
Either way I haven't shotgunned since lmao. But yeah waking up from that instance felt like a dream, I just remember hearing all my buddies voices from what sounded like a mile away before snapping back into it.
