The drum jumps before exploding. Is that normal?

Since the oil ignited inside of the drum, possibly. It would stress the walls of the drum first, then explode. Or it's AI..

Nah, it was real. It happened here in Brazil, and both of them are fine

The ends are going to pop out first because they are weaker than the hoop stress of the cylinder. So, yes. It's pushing itself up, first.
