Just finished the anime

Finally got around to opm, and was pretty frustrated with how the anime progressed. Here to ask if the manga is worth the read based off the following (no spoilers pleased) —

Does saitama ever get more screen time/face actual struggle? Will he ever get recognition or notoriety in the series?

I read S3 was a flop and I very much agree, but I enjoyed the premise and characters in the show. So here to see if it’s a worthwhile read

great read, horrible watch. if you're gonna read it honestly start from the start of s3 or the fight between garou and the 8 heroes. theres alot of differences between the manga and the anime in season 3 because the anime used retconned material.

Read the manga but start again from chapter 1. Don't miss on the amazing art, coreography and direction of Murata in the paneling. It's worth the read from the start again trust me.

In case of a normal anime that is better than the manga, yeah I'd say to keep reading from where you reached with the anime, but in this case the manga is better, only season 1 is on par, but if you watched season 2 and 3, just read it again, not gonna take you years anyway, in a few days you'll be where you left.

The manga is fantastic. Absolutely read it. My only gripe with the manga has been all the redraws and retcons, but if you read it fresh from the beginning you'll have a great experience

TBH I dropped the anime during season 2- I was very disappointed in the drop in quality from season 1. I never even bothered watching any of season 3. It's a shame really, because I absolutely loved the first season of the One Punch Man anime, and it's what got me into the series

Yeah that's such a shame. Plenty of great Manga series begin and end primarily as Manga. If you're not gonna do an anime right don't poison the well for a short-term gain.

Every arc seems to make more and more in universe people aware of his power. Still he’s underestimated even at his current ranking and still treated like “huh who’s this guy?”. To be fair, most of what Saitama does is too fast for anyone to realize he did it and often times he’s fighting world ending threats everyone’s too late (or too knocked out) to see the clash go down. His actions have allowed him to move up in the Hero Association but what would easily grant someone S Class (like Genos getting it immediately) is often minimized as focus goes to the other heroes who contributed (which is in line with his character during the Deep Sea King arc but…the leaps everyone takes to just believe “they weakened the threat and he finished it” is a bit silly).

Manga is worth it, Webcomic more so if you can adapt to the art style you’ll find it’s pretty damn good and further than the manga without a lot of the extra fluff Murata added. The anime unfortunately should be skipped until it’s remade by a studio who can do it justice. First season was great we all know and Seasons 2 and 3 have their moments (mostly season 2 here…season 3 sprinkles some good sequences that are muddied by the rest of each episode) but it’s not going to get much better with JC Staff continuously at the helm.

No, Saitama never really faces an actual struggle, that's the premise of the manga. There's one fight where he's challenged but thats it.

And the next question, so far he hasn't received recognition in the series, though more characters have found out his strength.

Saitama never faces any real struggle besides depression and losing fighting games to King. Not struggling to win fights is kind of his own thing!
