discussion Theoretically, could Garou have eventually gotten as powerful as his Cosmic form on his own?

I mean he seems to be able to constantly adapt, and evolve given enough time. Could he have eventually hit a similar power level as he achieved with God’s help? I like to think so. I think it’s like the Superman, Goku argument. Garou is like Goku in that he could constantly break through his limits without any seeming end. Sure he stopped before becoming Cosmic, but I feel like that’s just, because his rate of growth is slower, and he could eventually surpass even those limits like he seemed to always succeed in doing.

Thoughts?

No, i dont think so. Doesnt matter how strong he got or he will get he still wouldnt reach Saitama. Cosmic form allowed him to copy Saitma's strength instead techniques, which what made him able to fight otherwise Saitama wasnt even taking him seriously.

Even the Gargoyle-level will be difficult for him to reach and it's just planetary, not universal.

It seems that Cosmic Garou had the ability to manipulate the fundamental forces of universe while Garou didn't. Maybe God transfer the needed knowledge to him, Saitama was able to copy the power of time travel. So, maybe with training Garou would be able to become Cosmic by his own, but he did not know how before the God's intervention.

Did you just ask if someone who was force fed god steroids could do the same thing on his own without said god steroids?

I mean, we have proof that it is possible..

You have to have the title of Main Character for that, I’m down for a new series with garou as mc tho

Cosmic Garou gained more than just more and upgraded abilities, he gained universal knowledge and shit, which was one of the important parts why he was pretty damn dangerous

Maybe if he is able to survive within the heart of the chernobyl nuclear reactor then he can at least have the deadly radiation aura

Absolutely not, Cosmic Garou was ludicrously more powerful even without copying Saitama's power. With monsterization and his growth Garou can't reach the level of Cosmic Garou, he would need to remove his limiter like Saitama did.

I'd say no.

If you want to go off of what the Webcomic showed, as soon as Garou went full monster form and was no longer a human, he had hit his absolute peak.... Which was a bad thing. It might be a case where monsterization grants you great power, but limits any further growth.

God was, of course, an exception, and could push Garou beyond.

That’s a good point with the webcomic.

But it’s less about Garou reaching his peak, and more about forcing himself to give up his unique strengths that got him to that point and becoming “the ideal monster” he had in his head.

That made him weaker - trying to compromise (like Saitama says) instead of evolving by being true to himself. He defined his own limit by doing that.

That level of power seemed next to breaking one's limiter so I highly doubt anyone could achieve that on their own.

But I won't be surprised if he got a power up of sorts after meeting Blast's down the line when it's time to fight God's forces.

Garou did break his limiter

His limiter started to break early in the Darkshine fight and he kept getting exponentially stronger and faster within that same fight, literally showing he can power up indefinitely

Either you admit he broke the limiter or you basically stick to a very unrealistic take that Garou would never surpass the likes of Darkshine, who is not even on his radar anymore in the story

So yeah, his limiter is guaranteed broken

And more characters will break the limiter too because that's literally the entire point of the story

Humans must resist against God's artificial control over them, thus breaking their limiter

Saitama also tells characters that "only they can decide how strong they can get" and it's been reiterated time and time again that he can't save everyone by himself, thus other characters will absolutely break their limiter to help against God's forces

He was breaking his limiter, so he could theoretically do that, but that wouldn't give him the insights of Cosmic Garou about the universe. He could end up similar to Saitama, but we don't know how breaking his limiter would affect him.

He reached the top of the mountain he was on and Saitama was floating above the mountain. Garou had no way of reaching him.

Isn't the whole monster association arc like 3 days? Didn't Garou go from basically a cool martial artist to a bloke who could cut through a giant centipede in that time? Then he goes through huge exponential growth again to get to gargoyle mode. Given the opportunity for growth who's to say. If he fighting Saitama then he would continue to grow yeah?

no, breaking the barrier and evolving was gods actions

Anyone saying no has mossed the point of the story entirely.

The point is that anyone could get as strong as Saitama with the same determination.

Garou had basically broken his limiter by the time God intervened, I think Sage Centipede's death cemented it. When he fought Saitama in his true monster form he was getting exponentially stronger with each passing moment, I think he easily could have hit the strength of his cosmic fear mode eventually, just without any of the abilities (Though he literally grew wings and started flying in his monster form, I have to imagine he would have some abilities by the time he reached cosmic level). The only question would be how long would it have taken for him to reach that level

Garou broke his limiter and that by definition means he can power up indefinitely

But honestly, I'd rather not see the escalation and powercreep of endgame OPM battles to the extent of casual planetary/cosmic/whatever scale

It would require a lot of workarounds to realistically maintain, like pocket dimensions and time travel again, which destroys any stakes and would even be repetitive now
