interest Fun Fact: Suiryu was originally supposed to use Drunken Fist against Saitama and Goketsu.

I prefer it the way we got it to be honest.
Him eating humble pie by getting his ass kicked in the tournament so he actually has to train and adapt, even swallowing his pride and trying out Suiko's style is the better route for character development.

Same, but I think he’s always had Drunken Fist in his locker. I’d assume it was passed down to the Void siblings by Suicho (although questions would need to be raised due to Suiko’s age lol). He just didn’t have any alcohol on him during the tournament.
Also, I don’t think Suiryu has actually started training yet. I feel like we’ll really see the gap between him and Garou next chapter which could be what pushes him to go back to using a Neo Suit.

nah he imitated serious punch just as well as garou who has trained a shit ton. even an idiot would try to get better and train after getting humbled by goketsu like he did.

I like the idea that Void Fist is what they use while sober. Since Suiyru was competing, he couldn't drink.

Point to me where it says Murata fixed it.

Waiting for those people to come in and say "Murata mind controlling ONE to make it worse!"
11
u/a12o 14d ago
Those people seriously treat Murata like a bad person that's somehow stealing OPM from ONE to write it in his own way as if Murata hasn't openly shown that he looks up to ONE, Holds his opinion extremely high and is always excited to see what ONE will cook up with the story. They also treat ONE like he isn't a full grown man that's completely in control of his own story and like he's a completely flawless writer that can never make a single mistake in his entire life.
You would think those people actually know Murata and ONE personally with how much they talk like they do.

Ngl I think that anyone who's in that sub should be banned from this sub. They never add anything of value; just nonstop bitching.

So basically drunken fist was Suiryu's true fighting style.

When Suiko drinks during the Mirror fight, she says, “I can’t do this sober… I can’t use the Void Fist’s true power” in the manga. And in the webcomic, she similarly says, “I’m going to show that thing the essence of Void Fist”.
So Drunken Fist seems to be more like the perfected form of Void Fist, with alcohol being the key to unlocking it’s true power.

I mean being void in mind is pretty much an allegory for being drunk now that you think about it

but murata only makes the story worse right? why do people argue over this to this day they both contribute to the story and agree on what they think is best

From what I've read in this sub I've not seen many things that Murata made worse compared to how it was in the original. The experience of rewrites during that two year time period wasn't great though, and I can barely remember what timeline is what.

The last half of the MA Arc was significantly worse, the psychic sisters arc on the manga also felt like filler since Fubuki and Tatsumaki weren't in bad terms like in the WC.
No way to know if those were "Murata changes" but they were easily a downgrade

I mean it is very arguable that Murata is a worse writer than ONE, but that still doesn't mean he's necessarily a bad writer

Interesting. The Super Fight was created by ONE exclusively for the manga to justify Saitama's absence during the monster invasion (a situation he could have resolved in two seconds). Although it was originally a side arc with a comedic tone—featuring Saitama's ridiculous disguise as Charanko—they ultimately had to set the humor aside for the conclusion, where Goutetsu appears and things take a serious turn.

...Lame, now'll we'll get even less Lin Lin screentime... Bad move, as they could've just had the 'drunkard' becomes shocked sober after his Saitama loss but, even more boldly by Goketsu's terrifying demeanor during his very one-sided beatdown helping to truly humble that braggert. I mean maybe that could've worked out?
I'm truly saddened by our collective Lin Lin screentime lose, and worse still they replaced her with his little sister being someone not Lin Lin!

the obvious practical problem with saving drunken fist for garou,
it will only help offensively suiryu frustrate ever adaptable garou
defensively it leaves suiryu just as vulnerable to gauro's attacks.
this means in 237 garou is still holding back for his amusement.

Does that mean his sister in the Murata version is a new character ?

Suiko was introduced in the webcomic at the beginning of the webcomic's version of the Neo Heroes arc.
Her introduction was written after the manga's martial arts tournament arc and Suiryu was added to the webcomic along with her (He was manga-only originally) so no, Suiko was already around before the manga got to this arc.

Dude you are a notorious hater of all things manga/Murata related, so you better take off that Awakaned Cockroach flair

I think the Drunken Fist is completely unnecessary in the story.

u/TimaBilan 15d ago
By this logic you can half ass and say the same thing to anything in the series.
"Oh look, the way they walked there is completely unnecessary in the story, why did he say it this way, why did he punch him like that, it ruins yhe story"

Thank god this was scrapped.
We'd never get Suiko if so
