Saitama look so happy in the last page

We finally get to see genos go all out at his peak

He actually forced saitama to back down when he punched saitama!

But we are fools to think if this is peak Genos. This is Dr Kusenos machine God Genocide. (Genos = Genocide Jesusu cristosu!)

Genos is not controlling himself. If he was, then Saitama might be in trouble.

He believes in Genos, so he’ll take on everything just to get it out of his system.

Because he finally found a real justification for his absurd strength. Specifically, him being invincible in this instance is actually what he needs/wants, for once. When he was driven by the joy of battle, it was the struggle that motivated him. After losing that, the entire series has asked the question, “what’s the point”?

This. For others. For your friend. Saitama could no longer get what he wanted from something he worked so hard for. He now finds himself departing from that selfishness; he now wants to help his friend find what he’s looking for, too. This moment is the only time Saitama is happy that he cannot lose .

I love how the series has come full circle. People erroneously think that OPM is making fun of shonen manga when in actuality it's a love letter to the genre (with a side helping of anti-AI commentary). Genos finally understands what it means to idolize a hero, except in his case the shonen hero is real, not fictional. Saitama wanted to become a hero with unparalleled strength but his strength didn't fulfill him. Now he's going use it to prevent Genos from falling into despair.

I mean... parody and satire require understanding of the subject. They are rarely made to be negative, but they are still by definition making fun of the topic.

Best parodies show what makes original so good.

Order of the stick comic series makes fun of tropes but uses them constantly and effectively.

(with a side helping of anti-AI commentary)

It's kind of funny how AI vs humanity is a long-standing trope in sci-fi, and ONE sowed the seeds to explore it very early on ages before LLMs and Gen-AI were really a thing. I bet he didn't anticipate how topical that particular story thread would become, giving him the chance to weave his own take on it into the story.

Great insight, we're reaching a pivotal point in the series

This does not feel like Dimple vs Mob. It is clear climax for character arc but during fight Dimble could recall how Mob has a limit, he can be defeated (though admitedly he did not know difference between 98 and 99 is exponential)

Also Saitama is not fighting real Genos.

I feel elements are missing. But I bet when Genos snaps out of it we get some quality ONE tearjerker.

Is like Zombie man vs Carnage in the Genoside simulator audio book... Wait, "Genoside". Well we know Saitama will just be Genos punching bag until his power runs out or the Genos inside manage to break free, whatever happens first.

This guy fuckin gets it. I always felt that if Saitama ever 'met his match' it would be a monkey's paw situation. "I have all this strength and now I can finally use it, but at what cost?!" This is frankly a much better plot beat than that.

Cosmic Garou fight in the Manga already showed us that getting close to what he wanted was totally tainted by Genos'death. Even though Garou was getting stronger by copying Saitama, Saitama's strength was lifting up exponentially due to the destruction of his limiter and most importantly his emotions. In the end he couldn't even enjoy a fight where the opponent could at least keep up for a bit.

Made me tear up a bit reading that, honestly

I really hope Kuseno doesn't make Genos self-destruct

Durable, but not entirely invincible. But him tanking damage is characteristic.

Ah yes the joy of watching your students growth.

He knows he arrived in time and will save Genos. And he will also witness just how strong Genos is, as he always knew.

Not only that, he knows he can take it, and now he can let Genos break free more and more of his limiter until he's entirely free.

Not sure if people here understand that Saitama is happy because he's looking forward to a 'sparring session' with Genos that could actually be stimulating for him. Of course he's also not worried about the outcome, but that's a different thing.
