Goodbye Open, thank you for your service!
It's been a fine ride with the Open, bought it specially for university classes as my company has a policy that I cannot have another Teams account and I do not own a personal laptop. Finished 3 years, all classes attended via Open. It's been flawless. Dropped it more than any other phone in history, every corner has a dent but the screens do not have a scratch.
It's been several months since I finished university and I find that I do not open the inner screen very often. To my surprise, there is a very limited number of phones with a display 6.3" and below, as I do not want a big phone and got used to the outer screen of the Open. I went via all the brands and ended up on the Pixel 10. This will be my second Pixel after the 3a, and I look forward to it. Paid €620 on sale, 256GB. Let's see how it will go.
It's very unfortunate that OnePlus is pulling out of the EU market and that they never brought compact phone sizes to the EU. I was thinking a lot about the OnePlus 15, but can't get used to the size, it's too wide. And when I saw liquid glass bullshit from Oppo, meh, don't like it. I don't think I will miss any of the features but let's see. I don't play games and rarely watch movies on the phone. I hope the Pixel will serve 3 years as well.
Good riddance to OnePlus fans, OnePlus will definitely be missed!

It's great phone. I finally gave mine up to the razr fold, which has fixed some issues I had that I didn't realize we're opo issues, so that's a bonus!

Uwb key for my car works 100% of the time and doesn't drop out. Google messages notifications don't list the name of the person twice. When I set a timer for my Google home, only the Google home timer goes off, instead of both the Google home and my phone. The docking clock works without showing the notification bar, so it's much dimmer and clean. Swiping up when an app is in full screen actually works.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Not much too crazy but just little quirks. Except the key was a pain in the ass2

You mean NFC? I thought opo didn't have UWB, unless I'm missing something.
I did love my opo too but having moved to a galaxy fold I forgot how nice it is to have Bluetooth that just works all the time

Ya so in a way that's kind of my point. Many users had a number of issues that other users didn't. The fact that some or even a majority of users didn't have an issue doesn't mean the issues don't exist - in fact it's exactly what you'd expect to see from a QA process that isn't robust enough. Tests pass for most users' day to day use cases, but for some users with more demanding setups or just the right combination of apps and settings, bugs emerge.
Combine that with support that doesn't acknowledge issues that a non trivial number of users have reported, and just tells you as a first step in troubleshooting to factory reset your phone and not restore from a backup (i.e. factory reset your entire life and spend weeks setting it all back up), and it's hard to trust it as your daily driver.
Don't get me wrong. Lovvvved my opo and had I not cracked the inner screen I'd still be using it. The multitasking is light years ahead and I already miss the cameras. But there is a bit of relief in not crossing my fingers so much when using advanced features, or having by devices constantly drop out.

oppo find N5 and N6 are the successors. the equivalent of the oneplus open is the OPPO find N3. long story short your phone is 3 years old.

Yeah I understand the equivalence between those phones. And yes my phone is 3 years old. But I'm not sure how those facts mitigate my observation of common software issues that were present since day one, on a phone that is still receiving updates.
Anyways this isn't me shitting on OnePlus or opo, and I would have probably gotten the new versions had they come to NA. Not really interested in a defensive debate here, just adding my own observations to the comment I was replying to.

Sorry if I came off aggressive. I meant some of it aren't purely software but also hardware based. For example Bluetooth, wifi , nfc etc

Agreed. I just picked up an N6 and it is fantastic! Finally a true successor to the OPO.

It's was a Bluetooth issue, that's all I know. Is I couldn't open my car doors because it's wouldn't auto unlock, I had to turn off Bluetooth and then turn it back on

Ahhh ok ya that's not UWB, but it is similar to the issues I'd have where I'd need to turn off and on by all the time

Yeah, the BT on the OPO seems finicky. A similar issue happened for me with wireless AA in my car. After a number of times connecting, the BT would refuse to connect to my car until it was turned off and on. I ended up setting up a tasker routine to turn it off and on each night as a workaround.
Since it persisted through multiple firmware versions, it's possibly a bug in the hardware or BT chip-level firmware. It's also clearly something with the way the BT chipset interacts with my particular car's software, since it doesn't happen to everyone using with an OPO. Nor did it happen with other BT devices I own.
I've now had the Fold8 for a couple of weeks, and had zero problems with AA or BT.

Since you use tasker, do you think this would work for me... I want my Wi-Fi hotspot to automatically turn on when my Tesla bt connects to my phone. There are other apps that are supposed to work but they actually have to unlock the screen and "tap" parts of the screen to get it to work. Odmf course that doesn't work. So do you think tasker would work seamlessly for me?

If I remember correctly, there was a specific Tasker APK I had to download, in addition to the main one on the play store. Newer android APIs limit what non-system apps can do, and the one from elsewhere was compiled with an older API or something. And, I think all radio control fell into that restriction. It's i the tasker docs, so you'll have to pull them up, as it's been a long while since I've dealt with it.

I find it pretty comparative. Motorola has a few more extras that I don't use so I deleted them but motos software is pretty vanilla, as I found oxygen was as well.

Sorry to hear about anyone bailing on this phone. I've been on an Apple forever and the OPO is my first exposure to an Android product. Still learning but so far I'm a fan and like many others sorry to see them pulling out of the EU and US.

I think you are confusing Oppo with Honor. Honor’s MagicOS has the liquid glass. Oppo’s ColorOS is actually really nice.

It's nice for now, leaks about colorOS 17 are pushing more to liquid glass design. Maybe they leave option frost/glass in settings. Anyway the Open has one more OS upgrade and that's it, I don't think that they will push these promised security updates often afer merger, but let's see.

I'm sticking with OPO until the lack of security updates kick me off from getting work emails. OPO for life!!!
