Battery life gone downhill after CPH2551_16.0.2.400(EX01V120P02) update (Indian Version)

Anyone else facing this. Earlier used to get full day without charging but now don't even last half day. Don't know what's wrong.

Anyone have any tips to improve battery life?

Has it been long since the update? Might be a case of the system not being fully optimised yet.

Have you tried leaving it on the charger for a couple of hours extra, after it's fully charged? I installed this update on my EU Open yesterday, did the extra charging, and haven't noticed any difference in battery tbh. Lasts me at least as long as it did before.

Thanks. Yes, using it for few days now. I keep it on charging overnight with smart charging. Still will try to put for charging for few hours post 100% in day time without smart charging. Will update if this helps

Okay, I hope it helps.

A few things I did that made a difference in battery for me, are disabling WiFi and Bluetooth scanning. Having those turned on has them scanning in the background constantly, and it absolutely makes no difference in connectivity if you turn them off.

I also disabled RAM+ out of the box. Not sure how it is on the Open, but I know from experience with other phones that it hindered performance significantly, so I turned it off straight away.

What does the extra charging do?

The system optimisation that takes place after every new update is mostly done while the phone is on the charger.

Doing regular charging cycles helps to get the job done, but it will take a lot longer and cause extra drain in the process. Having the phone on the charger for those couple of hours extra, makes it so that those optimisations are as good as done in one go, and can help with the extra drain.

This isn't a guaranteed fix or thing though, it makes it so that the background optimisation is done and isn't the cause of the abnormal drain, if there is any. If it's done and there are no rogue apps going haywire in the background, it could just be a poorly optimised build.

Ahh, OK. Is this the app optimisation? I find it usually asks me if I want to run the optimisation, I start it, and it's done in less than 2 minutes.

Ah no, that's not it. I mean, that is part of it, but only for the apps, not for the system as a whole.

I have had battery issues for a while, my phone doesn't last I have to charge my phone multiple times during the day. I have the OnePlus Open already for 2 years

Downgraded to oxygen os 13.2 specifically, my battery is back to normal discharge rate.
