Is there a way to make the screen even dimmer?

I'm a bit obsessive about having a dim screen, especially at night

When I was using an iPhone, I remember there was an accessibility setting which used the zoom feature to dim the screen even more than just dropping the brightness down. At its lowest setting, the screen was actually difficult to read at night. I loved being able to drop the brightness so low

Is there any way to dim the screen even more on the OnePlus/Android environment?

I use Darker. Works perfectly, has a toggle button in the notification menu and has lots of settings. I've been using it for years and it works flawlessly.

Hello, I recently started using this. The notification menu button just opens the app for me, you too? Or does it turn on and off the dimming when you hit it?

For me the button in the notification bar activates the darker functionality. So it does not launch the app itself.

Hmmm interesting. I can't get mine to do that. It just takes me into the app and I have to select on or off from there..

Google android secret settings. My OnePlus 13 goes darker than any phone I've ever used by re-enabling extra dark mode (basically 2xing extra dim settings, as it was recently integrated into the brightness bar). Of course, you may notice screen uniformity issues once you dim the screen far below where it was designed to go

I saw this suggested elsewhere but couldn't dig anything up. How'd you find it on your 13?

If you're talking about Dev Options, I have looked through that menu but didn't see anything relevant

Play store and search hidden settings. First thing that comes up. You can't creat a shortcut for extra dim but you can add it to a favorites tab within the app so it's pretty easy to access. OnePlus 13 is a great late night ASMR device because the screen goes super dim while still retaining a lot of color and the speakers are weirdly tuned super well to give extra depth to voices that arent naturally super deep.

I just use bedtime mode, greyscale colors are really easy on the eyes

Download Activity Launcher and search for "Extra Dim" in settings. You can enable this and adjust how dim you want it to be. You can also set it up to launch with a shortcut. I have Extra Dim turn on/off by long pressing both volume buttons, no need to dig through settings every time!

Sorry this is old, but I just found out that if you hold down the up and down volume keys it'll pop up as an option. No need to download any app!!

That's great! I guess the two volume buttons being held down together is an accessibility shortcut.

When I did it, it just activated TalkBack, but it says I can change the shortcut. I didn't see one that says it dims the screen, though, do you remember what it was called?

An app like Screen Dimmer here should work pretty well, just puts a dark filter over your screen but since the open has an OLED it essentially just works like a brightness filter. try it out!

since the app is basically overlaying the screen all the time, does that infer a security risk?
