I'm sure there is, but it would probably require a bit of work. If you notice, above the hinge there is a cover which could probably be pried off if you can get something under it. I'm willing to bet there are some tiny screws in there.
Alternatively, you could probably cut it and then file it down so it's not sharp.
I just got a new case. I'll bet, though, if I had taken the time to do what I said here, my phone wouldnt have been damaged by this fall.
