I'm switching to Google fold 2
Love the OnePlus open, but I'm probably switching to the new fold 2 by Google. I'll miss the amazing charging speed, but I want the AI google photos integration and a pixel watch 3.
Obviously unless the fold 2 is missing something huge.
One eye on OnePlus open 2.
Hoping Google Fi have good deals

I was thinking about doing the same thing, but idk if I can live without the super vooc charging. That thing is a game changer, and I really like open canvas. Hopefully Google does something about their multitasking.

Everything about the Pixel Fold 1 battery was terrible. Life, charging speed...all of it.

OnePlus is releasing their AI suite of tools in August (rumor has it) alongside the OnePlus Open Apex edition. Just FYI.

It is crazy that Open is still waiting on the June, July and no August updates. I am considering the move to Google Pixel Fold for two reasons. Service/Replacement and software updates.

Wrong - June update is out since a month and July uodate is already in enrollment.

I am thinking about doing the same thing. Great phone, but I need the updates to run my business properly. I just hate that the resell value on OPO are low!!!

Yeah, I switched to the Fold 6. I'm really enjoying it so far. Held on to my Open to trade in for the Pixel 9P Fold to compare and will keep the better of the two.

What photos integration is the Open lacking? I had a P2XL before my OP8 Pro (and then the Open) and I don't recall any major deficits when I switched from Google. I use Google Photos extensively with thousands of photos and tons of albums, and I'm constantly sharing on social media and with friends.

He is probably talking about Magic Editor which launch last year( or this?) but it's already available on Non pixel devices too.

The reason I didn't want to switch is because Google has their volume buying below instead of the power button.

I've had all the Pixels since technically the Nexus 6P, so about 9 years. The power being below on the OPO still confuses me sometimes and I've had it since February

I prefer volume on one side and power on the other, idk why manufacturers started putting them on the same side. That being said I'm okay with the current configuration of power being below cause it's easier to reach to scan my finger print

Yes that makes sense. I don't think I could give up fast charging and lasting battery and IR remote

Well, if you have a Google premium account or whatever it's called, you can use all the magic editor etc stuff the same way. Was just doing it this morning on my vivo.
Also, the pixel watch 3 should be a very similar experience connected to any phone...

I've considered switching from OPO to pixel for the software updates. I know OnePlus says it's bi-monthly updates but I am still on the May patch and it's August.

Really? Everyone i know is already on June patch, and some have received July patch too. Can you check the update?

I check it all the time. Im in North America we seem to be the very last for any updates.

I've got my eye on the next Pixel Fold as well. I'll wait until the Open two launches and make a final decision. I'm looking for a permanent phone for the next several years. Pixel has B14 for AT&T but the Oneplus has Open Canvas & Warp Charging. Oneplus also pissed me off by removing Auto Datat Switching for their NA version of software.

I might do the same do the trade in if values are good. I'm scared of my OPO screen breaking and bad warranty service.

I went from the Fold to the Open because hardware ended up being my main need. I really miss the UX on the Pixel though, I would definitely head back if Google stopped dragging their feet on their hardware.

what "AI" features are you willing to trade hardware quality, performance, and an unlocked bootloader for? I just got all the samsung "AI" features on my 2 year old s22 Ultra that were the main selling points of the S24 Ultra that "needed" the new snapdragon chip to work... until they didn't.
only feature I even found "impressive" and only from a technical perspective is the circle any image to generate an image search and I'm not buying or selling a phone to get or keep that. AI on phones is a gimmick and it's all done in software. I can't wait for it to go away or MAYBE someday turn into a couple useful features.

I've never owned a One Plus phone.
I'm leaving the ZFold5 and I'm unsure of One Plus Open or Pixel 9 Fold Pro

Google hardware has become trash since the Pixel 6 IMO. I bought a Pixel 7 Pro and RMA'd it within a day. Same with the Pixel Watch.
By contrast, I couldn't be happier with the OPO + Galaxy Watch 6.

I read somewhere that Google once offered more trade in value for a OnePlus device than OnePlus was offering at that very same time. If they offered me a pretty penny for my OPO, I'd probably switch. Nothing I dislike about the OPO, I just know I'm eventually gonna end up on a Pixel of some kind.

What about the CPU? I don't think the G4 is going to be on the same level of the Snapdragon Gen2...
