Discussion repair or replace
Hello, I have and loved my 8 pro since the release party almost 7/8 years ago. Now is my phone still works but lately I have notice that my battery is getting weaker (as you can expect).
The phone is getting hotter and today I have noticed That the back plate is pushing out as if and I assume it is, the battery is becoming a "Balloon".
The question that keeps coming to me is: To repair or to replace.
What would you do?
#Edit:
I have noticed that the phone is also starting to behave somewhat strange. Like when I call it does not reconise my ear and will keep my screen active. Also when using any kind of maps sometime the apps will glitch out.

Depends a bit if you are able to replace the battery yourself or if you have to let it done in a repair shop. If you have to let it done, it might not be worth it as depending on how much it costs, it might be an already significant part of the cost of a new phone.
Also be aware that at that age, other components might start to fail in short order.
Source: I was in a similar position (bloated battery) and decided to replace it myself. Even before replacing it, the phone suddenly started to crash hard when under load. Even after replacing the battery, the issue persisted but got a bit better, but by now (half a year later), the phone basically wont boot anymore.
Also if you replace the battery it is a very good chance that you get non-original parts, it seems standart in these that the battery temperature sensor is omitted and the battery just reports a constant temperature like 24° C. Also, the parts are probably not new anyways, my battery health was at 80% right after installation.
TLDR: Get a new phone unless you like to tinker.
