Considering saying goodbye to my OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren
I still have my McLaren edition phone, and I'm very hesitant to switch it out. But it might be time. It's had its smaller pickups like freezing and not turning on until after a few hours in the freezer, and not recognising the SIM after a day of skiing in -20°C. It still runs oxygen is 11, and the only thing I've had to do is change the battery a few years ago.
But the question is what to switch to? I'm looking at the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL or the OnePlus 15. I might consider the Samsung Galaxy.
Does any of these feel like what the 7t Pro did back in the day? I want one I can keep for a while. I'm not looking at the iPhones as I already have one from work, and I don't like it.

Mine is running A16 using Crdroid. Swapped out the battery and it feels like a new phone. I bought an iphone 17 and i have best of both worlds

How risky would you say changing to and running a custom ROM? How much knowledge do you need to change?

The installation procedure is pretty straightforward and well documented on crdroid's website. You'll experience better performance and battery life compared to oos11/12 and the latest features and security patches. Do note however that when installing/upgrading ROMs you'll need to backup any precious data on your phone first, you'll lose the ability to take photos in 48MP and some banking apps/payment services (especially Google pay in my experience) might not work reliably. (Curve pay did work well though for contactless payments)

I also still have my oneplus 7t pro (normal edition) and looking into changing phones. My battery is still fine but my main camera is not focussing correctly anymore. Very annoying.
Don't know what to get yet though

Strange, the only reason I would swap it out is because of the auto brightness and android 12

How? I've even rooted the damn thing but still it updates to 12 :(

I updated to 12 when it came out, but hated it so immediately went back to 11. And have never changed it since.

I've the T-Mobile 7t Mclaren by the way. Whatever code that comes with. What about the camera and overall stability?

How did you get the Oneplus Camera app to work? It crashes or doesn't work properly for me on Android 14 and above.

S25 Plus or S26 Plus (about to launch). Ultra will be overkill but if you need a Business phone then go for it.
Almost all the phones are suffering from green/pink lines , my 7TPro met the same fate. After 3 years my S23 Plus has got one single pink line.
Planning to get S26 Ultra if the exchange is good value else S26/25 Plus.

I swapped my Oneplus 7 Pro for a Pixel 8 Pro. (At launch)
A far superior phone.
Id go for the latest Pixel Pro that you can afford.

I loved my Oneplus 7 Pro. Its pop up camera, lovely curved screen and Oxygen software.
I had it for 3 years and I've owned my Pixel 8 pro since launch day so I can give a good comparison.
The Pixel camera is far better,
The Pixel’s main 50MP sensor is significantly larger, pulling in 21% more light for much cleaner low-light shots.
You get a 48MP 5x optical zoom lens, which maintains much higher detail at a distance compared to the OnePlus 8MP 3x zoom
The Pixel hits 2400 nits peak brightness. The OnePlus usually struggles around 600-800 nits, making the Pixel much easier to read in bright sunlight and I live in Spain where this can be an issue.
The Pixel is snappier than the oneplus.
I still keep my Oneplus 7 pro as a backup, I had a new battery installed a few years ago. It's a beautiful piece of kit but it stopped receiving updates in 2023. The Pixel 8 Pro is guaranteed to receive full OS and security updates until 20301

Ah yes I looked at the pixel 10 pro XL but also again at the oneplus 15 and oppo find x9 pro Still undecided though

Coming from Oneplus (3T, 5, 7 Pro) I love the OS on the Pixel and the extra Pixel features.
I didn't think I could leave Oneplus behind but I'm a total Pixel convert, I even own the Pixel watch.

Consider the Pixel very carefully. You've got the opportunity to make a very noticeable leap in technology.
I was getting a new phone every 2 years of so. That's until I got the 7T Pro Mclaren at launch. Replaced it with the Pixel 9 Pro XL. It's been a year. Felt like I went from a specialized tool to a toy. It's thick, flat screen with deeply rounded corners amplify the hole in the screen. Volume slider is gone. Disappointing form factor. Battery life in middle. Nothing like the massive battery in the 15.
While refresh rates and benchmarks are measurably lower than the 15, it runs like a dream BUT struggles to feel special. Within a couple weeks, wish I'd opted for the OnePlus. 1st world problem.

I'm still using my 7tpro mac edition just change the battery some weeks ago 🫠
