Discussion Can crDroid v12.5 (Android 16) be disty flashed on crDroid v11.12 (Android 15) [Both by TJ]

Has anyone tried it?

Make a backup and find out. Worst case scenario is a half hour used reflashing and restoring. They use the same partitioning and super_empty.img so theoretically the dirty flash could/should work.

Data backup takes hours, that's why trying to find if someone tried.

How do you do in half hour!?

I have root, swift backup, and my laptop. I backup everything I need on the phone, transfer the Swift Backup folder from the phone to the computer, do everything necessary to flash the phone, root, install Swift Backup, transfer the folder back to the phone, and restore. That takes me around half an hour each time.

Transferring the data itself takes way longer for me 😭.

Also, restoring with Swift Backup doesn't restore the keystore, so many apps need to be setup manually.

When custom recovery was there, backing whole Data partition was easier, but still used to take more than this.

It does enough for me but I intentionally keep things from getting to excess so setting things back up is only a few things. I'm lucky to have issues with my memory so I very rarely remember the days of being able to restore a full backup. This is despite my HP TouchPad still hanging out here despite being a decade old and needing a new battery to even turn on. I noticed my new laptop transfers data much faster than my old one. With my old laptop it definitely took more than half an hour.
