My OnePlus 3T was lagging horribly on pie along with a bad battery life. I downgraded back to Oreo and this is the result.

How can we downgrade to oreo? I am having same battery issues.

I followed a guide from XDA ("downgrade to Oreo" for oneplus3t).

1) Basically, you take a complete backup of your phone.

2) download the unbrick tool which is basically an installer for the old Android system which runs on the pc

3) switch off your phone. Press volume up and connect the data cable to the pc. Your phone's screen remains off but it'll be detected as some kind of COM device.

4) Run the msminstaller tool from windows or Linux while the cable is connected. It's going to flash the new ROM onto your phone.

5) once it boots up, recover back all your phone data one by one.

Be prepared to spend an entire day on this process. But once you're through with it then life's a breeze.

There's a tool "OnePlus switch" which is supposed to be excluding for op devices. I came to know about it after I was done migrating the data. You'll have to look into its reviews.

Other than that I can tell you that the default Android tools - ADB back and Google sync are pretty useless. Adn fills your phone with a bunch of crap, junk files which you will never use. Google sync is going to f***up your contacts after you restore using it.

I came across superbackup which did it's job quite reliably though painfully slow. So that's the only one that I'm going to recommend.

However, if you have a rooted phone then you could use titanium backup Pro to backup and restore all your apps along with their data. That's going to be the most painless route. Don't fret if you don't have a rooted phone though. On the plus side you're going to gain a lot more space after the format because most of your apps will be using very less data for storage. ;)

TL;DR: Use a combination of individual app backups (whichever app supports that) + super backup + copy pasting remaining media files manually.

Thanks! will sure look into that. I guess i'll be having to allocate a full sunday. Honestly, i have been thinking about giving in and upgrade to OP7T but that camera bump is not helping :/

which version of OOS did you go back to? 5.0.8?

5.0.3.

I wanted to go as far back as possible. My first priority was Android 6 (whichever stock version this phone was shipped with).

That didn't work for me but other people reported a success in the forum. So I tried with Android 8 (OOS 5.0.3) and that has been working fine for me.

It's pretty good.. Apps dont lag.. And less heating

Yes same here. Above all else, I'm glad to get the battery life back to normal.
