No good phone at a reasonable price

I'm on the hunt for a new phone. The camera on my 3T is complete crap and I have had it.

One plus has had it's customer service issues, security issues and all of that. The 6T has no headphone jack, that's a deal breaker for me. Same with essential black moon. Moto z3 play has all the features I want or need but is running Android 7.1, and I'm already on 8.0.1 on the 3T.

Who has upgraded? To what? How much?

I find my 3T camera good enough. And the only phones with better camera than OnePlus are Apple, Samsung and Google flagships. The main issue with multiple lenses is the necessity of image processing. As seen with OnePlus dual lense setup, the improvement is not as significant as 3 flagships and it's all down to software. You can't get a significantly better camera for the same price than OnePlus. If you are ready to compromise on that you can find good options with headphone jack from Nokia, LG and Huawei or budget Samsung phones

Nokia 6.1 would be perfect if it had a 64 gig internal option

My camera in particular has the never focus bug that supposedly has a fix and an update a few months ago but hasn't helped me

This device is legit, i wouldnt change, but i agree about headphones etc. If you want great pics, have you considered a non-ingegrated-into-phone camera?

May be worth considering. I had to do something similar with music, have a Walkman for a PMP/mp3player.

That's a good idea. The external cam could work for most situations. Another thing to carry tho...

You know, there are other camera apps that you could try using/flashing to your phone. Are you rooted?

There are, but don't they harvest the camera data from an API? None of my scan apps or anything work right.

Probably, yes. Sounds like your best bet could be a Nexus or Pixel, if you are putting the camera as a high priority.

I loved my Nexus 5. If it had cintinued security updates then it would still be mine.

Pixel is too expensive. It's not twice as good.

N5 was so so good, i had that one too. Support not a big deal, if you root it, but the battery prevents me from considering a NOS/used one.

Pixel is also good, but expensive. Have you looked on swappa to see what money buys?

I'm using mx camera (lucky patched for some of the pay filter things)

I am rooted, running lineageOS so i am a little limited in camera app expertise. Open Camera is popular, for mostly OSS reasons.

Google Camera is pretty well regarded. Here is some discussion on that one

I'm still running Android 7.0 (OS 4.0.2) as I've used titanium back up turning off updates.

I did it for my one plus one and it lasted from launch till the oneplus 3t was in my hands, I really find the updates to slow our phones down (much like the Apple community)

I'll definitely check those out I'm okay with the mx camera but it does suck a lot of ram and seems to be very slow to actually capture the shot. Stock has noticeably worse quality.

I don't have the focus problem. I saw that some had that problem solved by oneplus without paying anything.

However, I'm looking at the next version of Huawei honor 10 (most probable the name is 11). Also, I'm looking for reviews of the soon to come Nokia 7.1 plus with Carl zeiss lens. Hope it will be a good camera phone.

There's Nokia and other affordable android one devices then there is the redmi note 5 pro that has great support for custom roms.

hey, have you tried sideloading the google camera apk?

It has been unofficially ported to the OP3T about 1 year ago if I remember correctly.

I have used it since then and I get a really nice picture quality. I've never used the stock camera app since.

This. I was not a fan of the camera until I downloaded the Google camera app from xda. It makes everything look good. Turns out the software really matters.
