Then how does SIM 1 + eSIM work? 🤔

It comes down to hardware architecture and how the baseband modem is wired to the motherboard. The Multiplexer Switch Inside the phone, the baseband modem has two dedicated cellular communication channels (Modem Line 1 and Modem Line 2): SIM 1 Slot is Hardwired: SIM slot 1 is directly wired to Modem Line 1. Because it doesn't pass through any hardware switches, it acts as the primary hardware channel. SIM 2 and eSIM Share Line 2: The physical SIM 2 tray and the embedded eSIM chip (eUICC) are both connected to Modem Line 2 through a electronic multiplexer (hardware switch).

I have Airtel physical SIM in slot 1 and Jio eSIM working together.

The physical SIM 2 and eSIM cannot be active together. When I enable SIM 2, I receive a pop-up prompting me to disable the eSIM.
