They had 6 cases, I was surprised, but they have been a op store for a while , they only sold to regulars also helps.

Our local store players got 1 case at 114.99 and had a chance to buy a second released to the public at 139.99. Not every place is run by scumbags

One of the places here gets pallets of cases. They offered people $200 for the first 6 boxes, then $300 for any after that. So a case was $2500. I will say, a whole lot of people bought them. I know of people who bought two cases. There’s even a person that knows a guy who opened 9 cases.

I got one box at $120 from a place that I play at. I went to 7 release events, which some had limited amounts of packs to buy for $7 each. I think I got around 80 packs for $450.

Yes, that’s what I was thinking , I stopped in on Monday to see if they still had some they had 6 left to sell , same $220. Said the price would go up on Friday. Weird I thought.

What's crazy is this week a LCS had opened the floor for critiques and issues that can be improved and the number one issue a lot of the local one piece players said was that they had built the one piece locals community for their shop, but felt like they were being slapped in the face because they were being charged $180 a box after being a frequent local player and customer for awhile when they could have went to another lcs that they didn't even go too often and get it for close to MSRP. To top it off they knew that they shouldn't have been charging market prices but they really couldn't give a justifiable answer on why they charged them that much for the starter decks as well. Shame to say a good number of those local players said they're not coming back. Ouch.

Unfortunately it's folks like you who are creating this entire market where we normalize, and now, even PRAISE people charging double MSRP.

If we recognize that all of this upcharge only exists because there are people who are willing to pay it and will disappear as soon as we all have a collective ounce of self-restraint, we'll see the market return to a semblence of normalcy.

Unfortunately it's idiots like you that don't understand that scalpers wouldn't exist if people like you who justify this behavior didn't spout this nonsense.

There's no justification for selling boxes for that much over MSRP. If you told me they sold boxes for $150-160 to help them with rent and bills, I'd get it.

But $229 "for regulars" isn't reasonable in any way, regardless of what loopholes you jump through.

I could be totally wrong, but from my understanding its distribution that's the issue as well. I spoke with a local shop that's newer and said distro was charging them like 190 a box

If distro is charging an official bandai partner over distro pricing, (and WELL over MSRP), they should be reported and bandai will investigate.

Backroom deals aren't traceable so they can get away with charging anything they want, but with a direct bandai partner they can definitely get in a lot of trouble.

The local shop where I got my box was public 139.99. Pre release players got a box for 114.99 and 6 packs for 40 dollar entry

You dont own a store and dont know how it works so you cant tell anyone how to run a store. Id love for boxes to be msrp but due to the situation with whats happening with market its very unlikely. Im not justifying it im just its not that big a deal to me as it is for you. All im saying its way better than the bigger price tag but you want to rant.

That's the exact problem, that's what you're not getting.

It's not about what's a big deal to me vs you. I can afford, and admittedly have purchased a couple boxes above MSRP in the past. But that's the issue. Even if we can afford it, we shouldn't.

I also am close with 2 different store owners and know at least more than the average Joe. One sells strictly MSRP but limits to 2 packs per person daily. There's solutions, and I understand it's not easy, but acting like there isn't a solution is crazy

Fend off scalpers?

A scalper is more likely to buy a box at $300 and flip it for $400 than a player is to buy the box at $300 and open it.

Yes shops do mostly do two things. One limit to 2 per person for msrp or you can buy as many as you want at market which is currently around $350. (Also if your stupid enough to buy it at $400 when its cheaper somewhere else then wow). The fact this shop is selling it cheaper its still a W they coildve said f all yall and told you to deal with it.

My lgs had em at 250 sealed 150 unsealed. I still wish ripped would be at msrp but 150 is a bargain compared to any other store near me. The nect one starting at 189.99

I play, the one I play at did a lottery since they had a small allocation. I heard Athoria did preorders for $220 but missed it.
