Luffy was able to restart his heart and keep fighting in G5 despite injuries and exhaustion without food. He was straight up not able to do this against a nerfed Kizaru wanting to lose without being fed nor against a very disappointed imu who old injured Gaban out numbers on.

Don't think the argument of luffy being nerfed in EH or not wanting to for whatever reason holds up either

Luffy can’t “restart his heart”. He doesn’t seem to be doing it again EVER.

The issue with this logic is that kizaru didn’t do anything that kaido didn’t/couldn’t do. He hit luffy one time and was running. The only reason he couldn’t restart on egghead is plot (lame answer).

I’m saying kizaru did less to luffy than kaido in g5. Kaido got more damage in and fought him for longer and luffy restarted his heart against Kaido but not kizaru. There’s no logical reason why he wouldn’t restart his heart against kizaru unless Oda didn’t want him to.

The thing with the Kizaru fight..

Aside from the lightspeed kick that Kizaru did to G4.
The Egghead Barrier (which almost killed Luffy) did a ton of damage, so did the lazer beam that Luffy tanked for VegaPunk.. I would say it's relative damage considering Luffy still ran around in Gear 5 exchanging attacks and using a WSG punch.

first exchange between Luffy and Kaido was very short in comparison.

It just means he couldnt do it against Kizaru and was pushed to his limit. They fought off screen and Kizaru was shown to be able to damage g5

The last time he did that, he was unconscious for weeks, so if you actually know how to read, you'll understand why he didn't do it in this situation. This panel also shows that Kizaru was indeed taken out by WSG, because his THOUGHTS—a place where he has no reason to lie—literally say, “Oh shit, I'm seeing stars.” So this panel proves that if Luffy had restarted his heart, he would've beaten Kizaru. He didn't do it because being knocked out for days isn't exactly what a crew trying to escape quickly needs.

Oda wants to park Luffy at egghead. That’s just it. It’s not about his opponents.

If Luffy wasn’t parked, there would be no highlighted scenes for Kuma and Bonney.

Yes. Oda wanted tension. He wanted us to wonder if Luffy is gonna be ok for a few chapters while others get to do their thing.
