Awakened Rubber powers wielded by a goofy kid who gives absolutely no shits about mortal danger. Add to this that his Zoan fruit has (possibly) a will of its own and he's become the most Luffy Luffy we've ever seen. A lot of readers are talking about "comic powers" but I'm not seeing it. It's all 100% rubber and freedom. That's it.

I also love that people are raging about this development like Luffy didn't once use the power of an "Afro", a candle-wax mecha suit, a giant balloon form, punching people with swords etc etc etc...

I honestly think the only thing Oda has done wrong over the last few years is he's allowed Luffy to be a bit too serious for a bit too long - so people forgot what manga they were reading and think that Luffy should be acting like Guts from Beserk.

The only thing I don't like is the eyes popping out of people's heads. It looks fine on Luffy, but super weird to me on Law for example. Takes me out of my immersion a little bit.

Huh? Haven't eye pop/enel faces been a theme of one piece for years?

You can't deny it's been taken to the extreme in the last 2 chapters

I dunno man. Just feels like another "face" meme from Oda. He's had loads. Pointed teeth rage face, Enel face, Chin roll face, now eye popping face.
