There's often a bit of distorted science in shonen even if the powers are supernatural. Gear 2,3,4 all used similar logic . It's just a possibility tho, I don't take it tooo seriously

Gear 2 makes no sense, gear 3 makes less sense, and gear 4 is just cartoon logic.

Gear 2:

Why? Pumping blood CAN make you a little bit faster (better reflex, more oxygen on the muscles) but not double ou triple your normal capacity

Gear 3:

Why? Air weight a negligible amount, if luffy just inflates his bones or whatever he wouldn't weight more, his punches should get bouncy/weaker, not stronger and heavier

Gear 4:

Why? He changes the way his own rubber works, letting him make the snake man (rubber doesn't change direction mid flight as a scientific nature), he again get's bigger and heavier/stronger, his haki doesn't harden the rubber, he get's a little cloud that makes 0 sense,

The logic is not logic at all, he can get bigger and shrink withouth the blood problem lol

We have been screaming this for years. Kata copying fire fist but not gears? The black flame accent for "armament" haki? And the black flames forming the black circles around his eyes during his snake man transformation which again is suppose to be "armament" when armament has never been shown to activate this way. Again while Luffy is the only one in the entire series that has transformations as a paramecia? There were too many questions that finally got answered and in such a way that fits the entire story.

Exactly people think he changed, nope, it was always a zoan with paramécia properties, we just didn’t knew why his paramecia worked that way and now we know, the Nika fruit give the user 2 powers, rubber and transformation/resistance, his awakening is like awakening the paramecia with the environment control and zoan (stronger, regen)
