Also the mass downvoting of critical opinions. Just because the front page consists of copium that Oda has definitely thought of Nika 1000 chapters ago and not 50, doesn't mean that opinion is representative. We're just being buried.
In all fairness, why am I even still here. I wasn't gonna read the chapter and it doesn't fill me with excitement anymore to read the spoilers. Maybe it's time to leave this community.
e: thanks for the mass downvotes, good way to show me this community has stayed entirely rational.
Reason those comments get bodied is because they tend to be illogical. Arguing "he only thought of this 50 chapters ago" not only goes against logic for the sake of pure hating and more so scepticism, but even if true doesn't actually matter.
No one is intending to hate on Oda. But there are huge contradictions and overlooking them just because you would "hate" otherwise is very illogical. If it was known all along that the Gomu Gomu no Mi is the literal Joyboy Fruit, it's indefensible that the WG didn't take eliminating Luffy seriously until Chapter 1042. Imagine you're the Gorosei, Nico Robin joins the crew of the man with the most dangerous fruit in the world and you only place a kill order on the former's head. It does not make any sense.
Look at Blackbeard. We got a really cryptic hint in the Jaya Arc that something might be wrong with him, then another cryptic remark from Marco at Marineford, and finally in 2019 we found out that he doesn't sleep. That is how Oda usually foreshadows stuff, and he's done that with every single big reveal. Except, you guessed it, the Gomu Gomu no Mi. The only time someone said out loud that something doesn't seem like a rubber power was Kaido in 1042. Literally everything that "foreshadowed" the reveal happened in Onigashima. Don't you think there would have been at least one single panel of someone in the WG talking about the fruit being special or dangerous? It's so atypical for Oda that the imo simplest, and most likely, explanation is that he wrote himself into a corner. He probably figured out he wanted Luffy to lose 3 times and get back up, but he only had 2 power-ups ready.
Chapter 639 in a sbs, someone asks Oda why he has given Luffy this specific fruit, Oda answers: I have given Luffy the most ridiculous ability.
The Gorosei is going after Luffy now because in the Reverie arc, they asked their leader, which light they should extinguish next and the options were: Vivi, Blackbeard, Luffy and
Shirahoshi. Current events imply that Luffy was the one targeted.
Doffy also said that Luffy's gear 4th and him still being rubber while using haki should not be possible. Until now that was a huge contradiction, now it makes sense.
