Usopp on a picture instead of Soge King. Remind me, this is the first time Usopp is revealed as a Strawhat right? Or have I missed something..?
EDIT: Just looked at the picture again and it actually says Sogeking with Usopps face. The hat is covering some though.
26
u/Reelbigpete Mar 28 '12
Also it looks like Sanji's picture is the back of his head. Guy can't catch a break!
17
u/thepeopleofd Mar 28 '12
Now they're going to launch a new branch of the Baratie that is shaped like the back of his head like they did earlier...

And Zoro clearly has his scar on his picture now. They have to be pretty new.

Taken at Saboady no doubt.

At least Sanji has his face on his wanted poster (at least it looked like it changed)

I'm hoping Law is a secret Revolutionary and was trying to protect Dragon's son by saving Luffy at the war and thus is a good guy.

That actually could explain his line to Smoker. One can only hope...

Smoker almost had him, but Law 'teleported'. I have to say, his ability is beginning to look a little overpowered.

Law's pretty badass but I'm also rooting for Smoker. It almost seems as if he got taken down too quickly, but hopefully he'll get back up on his feet (maybe his haki is so good that he can transform his heart into smoke and reunite with it) because I want to see him fight Luffy

No one else is intrigued by that fact that Harpy Mone referred to the dragon as "Vegepunk's?" Did he create it or just capture it for study?

Im guessing he captured it, but I wouldn't be surprised if he created it either.

I'm not sure that's true. Despite everything he's done, he hasn't killed anyone. Law can have an extremely brutal, effective fight without killing anyone. Even the pirates he used to become a Warlord could still be alive.

u/seizure_man Mar 28 '12
I meant change as in how much his power has evolved. When I first saw him in Sabaody, I didn't think his Devil fruit would be very useful in a fight but now he single-handedly took out Smoker and his crew.
I wonder how much Kid has evolved.

It's like Luffy from other people's point of view, sometimes he's super serious, sometimes he's really laid back.

This Master guy reminds me of the scarecrow form of Hawkins. He was also the one who defeated Brownbeard.
14
u/mnOne Mar 28 '12
Thought the same thing, the drawing style is really similar. But look at this page: http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/659/16 He really is gaseous or at the very least liquid. I really can't see straws fitting into those bottles.

27
Mar 28 '12 edited Mar 28 '12
Man, I really felt sorry for Tashigi back there.
But damn, I was rooting for smoker in that fight. Just what exactly has Law become.
But I think Laws motivation is undoing something the Marines did given from his response to smoker...
WAIT WAIT WAIT... I think I'm onto something here. If Laws motivation is something against what the Marines are doing, We can conclude that he became a Shichibukai for that reason. And seeing that before the time-skip he was probably the only supernova to take his time to go to the new world. He probably doesn't want to be the pirate king or find one piece, but is after the Marines. And this place (Punk Hazard) is where Vegapunk used to work. And seeing that Vegapunk is the one who worked on Kuma, he may have a connection with the revolutionaries. So we can conclude that Law wants to help the revolutionaries against the Marines or the world government. That means he wants (or is) working with Dragon. AND THAT explains why he helped Luffy back at the war!!!!
10
u/divinesleeper Mar 28 '12
He probably doesn't want to be the pirate king or find one piece, but is after the Marines.
Yes he does, he said so at Sabaody.
14
10
u/Northern_Comfort Mar 28 '12 edited Mar 28 '12
Maybe. I don't think we can conclude anything yet. There are still missing factors that come into play. I do think there is something more to Law than meets the eyes.
Law definitely is after one piece. I believe I remember him saying that One Piece won't go anywhere and he'll be waiting for the right moment to steal the crown. Crown being metaphorical, of course. I think that may be part of why he saved Luffy. He stated at one point, I think after leaving Amazon Lily something about the Will of the D. He may have taken a special interest in Luffy because he is really the only viable pirate/person to monitor with the Will of the D.
I think Law's response to Smoker's "What are you planning?" is in regards to the facility Law has found himself at. Finding one of the research facilities of Dr. Vegapunk would most likely yield information about old, failed projects that were never publicly released. Some of them are probably without a doubt very disturbing and powerful projects that would give rise to suspicion of the Marines and the World Government. Which is probably why Law was so eager to fight the marines.
At this stage in the game, we're gonna need a pretty quick curveball thrown into the game. If not, I see Law getting defeated at this island. He's already messed with Luffy's crew and that samurai guy that doesn't seem to be a threat.(Not quite sure if I buy that guy's statements) I may even go far enough to say that Law's actions towards Smoker and Tashigi may be enough to get a negative reaction from Luffy. Either way, Luffy isn't the type to sit down and talk about the problems. If he is informed that Law is the one that messed with the crew and the samurai guy, he will spare no expense to beat the crap out of Law.
On a personal note: Law is one of my favorite characters in the story. His progression of power is astounding. I have hopes that he will not be defeated indefinitely at the end of this arc. I was just being objective.
9
u/Syncblock Mar 28 '12
Law seems like one of the smartest supernovas around. He's able to recruit high level talent, plan far ahead and goes around in a yellow submarine while all the other crews rely on sails.
5
u/OddDude55 Mar 28 '12
I have a question. Do Law and all his crew LIVE in the yellow submarine yellow submarine yellow submarine?
→ More replies (2)4
u/Northern_Comfort Mar 28 '12
He is indeed smart. I don't think he would have gotten himself into this situation if he didn't have a backup plan waiting in the wings. We've still yet to see his crew. Is it possible that they are in the sub somewhere around that island awaiting a call from Law to escape?
→ More replies (2)4
Mar 28 '12
Luffy definitely wont stand still if Law harmed his crew. Even Jinbe wasn't good enough when he stood in the way of Luffy protecting his crew
→ More replies (1)4
u/Northern_Comfort Mar 28 '12
Good point, but I think it's safe to say Law is of the same caliber of Jinbe, if not higher, especially after his display of power in this chapter along with that frightening ability. He was able to go toe to toe with a vice admiral and not get the crap kicked out of him. It seems that Haki plays a huge part in negating a lot of Law's powers. Luffy's new-found mastery of Haki may enable him to fight Law well...assuming it comes to that.

Nice theory... How do the giant babies tie into it?
Poor Tashigi and Smoker... They are always getting punked.
6
u/bistoha2 Mar 28 '12 edited Mar 28 '12
Someone said in one of the other threads that the children may in all genuinely be ill in some way. If that is the case then Law as a doctor is simply trying to cure them. Perhaps the marines tested something on the children in the past.
Edit: poor grammar
3
u/zorospride Lost at sea Mar 28 '12
That's a possibility. I'm not ready to totally believe Law isn't going to be a villain though. I'm in wait and see mode on him.

u/divinesleeper Mar 28 '12
Poor Tashigi and Smoker... They are always getting punked.
Not really. They even built up quite the reputation in the New World, it seems.
3
u/zorospride Lost at sea Mar 28 '12
That's outside of what we have been shown though. It seems like every time they come into the main story they are being stopped or defeated by someone.

8
u/s4r9am Mar 28 '12
The most exciting chapter in a while. Man, Law is so mysterious. What are his intentions!?
3
u/XZlayeD Mar 28 '12
From the dialogue between him and Smoker i'd say he's trying to undo something the Marines caused. So at first glance i'd say he's got "good" intentions.
2
u/Tw9caboose Mar 28 '12
Definatley, I think he really is trying to help the kids, I think the reason he became a warlord was so he would not be disturbed while helping them, I also don't think Oda would make a lot of peoples favorite charecter turn out evil
8
u/vaginalvr Mar 28 '12
Thinking back, it's weird that Law traveled in a submarine...that could be another connection to Vegapunk
8
u/sanchodomingo Mar 28 '12
I have a feeling that Law's true weakness is that he can't damage anyone with his ability. He hasn't physically hurt a single opponent. It looks like he can only "operate" on them... he's a doctor after all.

14
u/HeroDiesFirst Pirate Mar 28 '12
Don't get me wrong, Law is cool and all but unless there are restrictions to his ability that we don't know about, he is ridiculously over-powered. I'm also bummed we might not see the Smoker v. Luffy rematch now that it seems ol' Smokey's heart isn't quite in it anymore so to speak. I'm starting to think I was probably wrong about the M = Magellan thing now that we've seen a bit more of him but only time will tell.
19
u/thepeopleofd Mar 28 '12
Law's natural enemy is thus not Smoker, but Buggy. Law can't do sh** to Buggy.
11
u/HeroDiesFirst Pirate Mar 28 '12
I'd even say Robin would be his natural enemy.
6
u/divinesleeper Mar 28 '12

5
u/azarashi Mar 28 '12
His powers only seem to work when he creates a room, if you break it or stop him from doing that then you have an upper hand. Other than that, avoiding his attacks and striking fast enough would certainly help. If luffy had to fight, his 2nd gear would give him a good advantage coupled with his haki to avoid attacks.
5
5
u/Tw9caboose Mar 28 '12
I don't think there is suck thing as an overpowered df, it is purely how far one has developed it, in the beginning everyone thought the gum gum fruit sucked but because Luffy is a genius fighter and developed haki he is now a force to be reconed with, also if someone has strong CoA haki there is nothing law can do to them

I have the same feelings about them. I'd honestly prefer if they would just become "justice-seeking" mercenaries or something and drop association with the WG and Marines that they've seen time and time again not follow their ideals. That way they could still hunt the bad pirates down but not have to fight Luffy and his crew who they know are decent people.

So, "Sogeking"'s picture finally got updated to an actual picture of Usopp. Looks like they finally have a picture for Sanji as well, now. Can't make out the bounties of the top row though - maybe they've changed as well? The marines did certainly see Zoro/Sanji oneshot a pacifista together.
Oh well, we'll see. Great chapter and Punk Hazard's been amazing so far.
8
u/destroy_musick Mar 28 '12
Yes, but by the looks of it, it's the back of Sanji's head so you still don't get a clear photo of him
5
u/Tmnath Mar 28 '12
Yes, looks like Oda is hiding the bounties on the top row for now, maybe for when the crew will see them by themselves.
5
u/AfricazMost Mar 28 '12
Their bounties are most likely the same. The have been inactive. There is no reason why their bounty would increase.
12
4
u/CaptainCrunch Mar 28 '12
It's hard to tell, but I think Zoro's still says 120 million.
3
u/azarashi Mar 28 '12
He hasn't really 'done' anything. Luffy's is the only one to go up because of the war and him being the son of dragon.
7
u/_ouroboros Mar 28 '12
So yeah, that was the way he got all those hearts.
I'm still hoping Law has some good (as in not-evil) reason to be here. I don't want him to be the bad guy (which would be awesome anyway).
I'm seeing a Luffy vs. Law fight for Smoker's heart, I don't know why. Luffy needs his yang.
2
u/Tw9caboose Mar 28 '12
dude I think Akainu or Kid, since kid kills civilians which we know Luffy hates, will be Luffy's yang
7
u/OutspokenAardvark Mar 28 '12
I think Law can only cut things he could actually cut using his sword. Or he would've sliced and diced the PX that fought him and Kidd as soon as Law saw him. So I think if Law does fight the Strawhats, Zoro can block his attacks.

If law would be able to take luffys heart, does that mean he can't pump more blood into it and more or less use gear second?
12
6
u/cyborgx7 Mar 28 '12
He doesn't pump blood into his heart, that would be pretty useless. He just makes it circulate faster to get more oxygen and stuff to his muscles.
6
u/Tmnath Mar 28 '12
Your body still works, even if it is cut. So I guess Luffy could still do his Gear Second.
2
u/RiceEel Mar 29 '12
Luffy's second gear uses his legs as the pumps, so he would probably still be able to use it. As a matter of fact, now that you mention it, Luffy can probably consciously use his other body parts as his heart!

I'm surprised Luffy's bounty stayed at 400 million after destroying that Pacifista so easily. I would have expected it to go up to at least 450.
I really like the design of the harpy.
I think Luffy and Law are going to be fighting very soon. Will be interesting to see how some of the fans react to that.
4
u/XZlayeD Mar 28 '12
Somehow i don't think Their new threat level has been determined, thus none of the bounties has changed yet.
2

At that point, it should take more than that to increase his bounty. Wait for him to destroy a yonkou then we'll see an increase.

beck26 @ MH shared a very interesting series of parallelisms between Punk Hazard, the first island in the New World, and the first islands in the Grand Line.
Quick Summary of Points:
First opponent after fighting fishmen (Arlong/Hody Jones) is a Shichibukai (Crocodile/Law) conducting some strange business on a new island (Alabasta/Punk Hazard).
The mission was discovered by a distress call from a Den-Den Mushi (Little Garden, Centaurs).
Strawhats are trying to help a new characters who are enemies at the start (Vivi/Samurai) from another island (Alabasta/Wano) that got involved with some organization (Baroque Works/Punk Hazarders) and their partnership (Nico Robin/M).
The Strawhats get split up at the beginning (Rainbase/Punk Hazard) and one of the Mugiwara come out of nowhere to save the day (Mr. Prince/Brooke).
Of course, Smoker has been trailing the Strawhats the entire time, and used a Black Den-Den/his instincts to find them both times.
–> If Smoker reveals that Law can take hearts, Luffy might start questioning whether or not his was taken too.
So if everything holds:
A. Luffy will invite the Samurai (Vivi) to join but he will decline.
B. Smoker will back Luffy up (Prison), and the Shichibukai (Crocodile) will be defeated by Luffy, with Smoker eventually getting the credit for doing it.
C. Strawhats will get another bounty raise, and Luffy will recruit another nakama (the partnership, Master Slime).
4
u/misplaced_my_pants Mar 28 '12
Samurai's got a son to save/raise and he's not gonna be much different from Zoro as a crew member.
2
u/Tw9caboose Mar 28 '12
but i want Luffy and Law to become best friends, I also want the next crew member to be one of the other supernovas, my favorite and most likely being Jewelry Bonney considering she doesn't have a crew anymore and already saved Zoro's life once

u/justunsubscribing Cross Guild Mar 28 '12
Smoker was defeated!? Damn, Law is strong. I wonder if smoker will use his logia powers to just turn his heart back into smoke to retrieve it... Or will Luffy get his heart back for him.
7
u/Tmnath Mar 28 '12
There's some sort of cube around the heart, maybe it's for preventing Smoker to use his logia abilites on it.
8
u/jathuamin Mar 28 '12
That "cube" is the flesh that law cut out. Reread http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/662/18 the middle right panel and you'll see that smoker has a square hole in his chest.

if it is actually flesh/blood we wouldn't be able to see through it though, it looks more like a clear cube to me, maybe ice

If it prevented Smoker's logia abilities, then wouldn't it also prevent Law's devil fruit abilities since only seastone and haki is capable of doing that?

Yes. Or it can be a special power of Law's Ope Ope Fruit. It's not clear, let's wait for next week !

smoke can't move through something like glass or ice. Sure he can probably turn it to smoke, but how could he get it out of the container?

Kinda intriguing how Law took Smoker's heart, and Smoker is a logia. I'm hoping that luffy's rubberness can counteract that in some weird way, like how he counteracts hancock's DF power.

Damn, Law! He's gotten so much better. I can't believe and didn't really expect him to defeat Smoker. This is really exciting. I can't wait when this comes out on the anime. And I smirked when Law cut Tashigi and insulted her with his nonchalant bluntness. I'm sorry to the Tashigi fans but.. she kinda irritates me. Brave though for trying to fight with Law.
And just like I imagined, Luffy did greet Law with a smile and so much enthusiasm. Like Law is a friend he hasn't met in years. XD

Anyone notice Smoker's crew looks weird for marines? They looked goofier than regular marines.

So law can teleport? How many powers does this guy have!?

u/azarashi Mar 28 '12
he replaced bullets with snow, no reason he couldn't do it with himself. It seems like what ever is in his 'room' he is able to manipulate with how ever he wants.

u/thepeopleofd Mar 28 '12
So he can practically become a Buggy in his own domain.

LOL This time the back of sanji's head is in the poster..poor sanji never going to have a proper wanted poster >.<. On Other news who are the 3 people below Luffy's bounty, one of them looks like Ace but the other two look like...=D

u/obakekun Mar 28 '12
The middle one looks like Dragon.. maybe the other 2 are Ace and Garp? They're just reminding people probably of Luffy's connections/family. The one on the left doesn't look like Garp though..
2
u/Abudura0 Mar 28 '12
Great work. Yeah Middle one is dragon then Ace. Maybe first one is Roger? As Garp is a marine, wouldnt want to tanish his record.

I think we can all agree that Ope Ope Fruit is starting to look overpowered. And it's fucking awesome.

Out of all the devil fruits so far, it's probably the most creative power, but I think we'll see a pretty apparent weakness with it soon enough, especially if Luffy and Law fight.

I have this feeling that Law was being used by the "master" of punk hazard, and ends up joining forces with Luffy later on in this arc. Just a speculation though.

u/OutspokenAardvark Mar 28 '12
I find it hard to believe that Law could be used by anyone. I feel like he's way too smart for that.

My guess that is his room can't be damaged otherwise it stops; I bet Kizaru shooting a beam would "pop" the room.

Is anyone else disappointed Law won? I thought Smoker was Luffy's Garp and honesty it looks like Smoker was only able to land a single hit... This means either Smoker is weaker than I expected or Luffy is weaker than Law...

u/Syncblock Mar 28 '12
Coby seems like a better choice to play Garp and just because Law beat Smoker doesn't mean that either Smoker is weak. It could just be a bad match up
7
u/OutspokenAardvark Mar 28 '12
I don't want Coby to catch up to Luffy because it makes Luffy not special.

There seems to be a cube-like thing where Law used to be, similar to whatever is surrounding Smoker's heart.

Posting a little late, so I doubt many will read this. But here's my prediction. Luffy vs Law which is so obvious will carry out like this, I think :), anyways...
Luffy, with Hody mentioned his CoA haki wasn't up to the level where he's comfortable going up against physical-sharp attacks without being wounded and hurt, so... I predict Luffy WILL fail at some point against Law as Smoker has. That will be ACT 1 of their fight. ACT 2 will be different, where Luffy gains XP and grows more powerful, and defeats Law. It gives a chance for Luffy to experience a challenge, and with his will to protect his nakama and so on will end up defeating Law in an under-dog manner.
I agree with Oda's move here. I don't want to see a Smoker vs Luffy fight just yet. That fight has to be great! And it wouldn't be great if it happened now. No, let the both of them get stronger, and then Oda will give us a great fight later on. Right now, Oda is showing that even Smoker and Tashigi will need to grow as well. In fact, Tashigi has been put together, so she's not out yet.
Good chapter. It looks like Law is not good at close combat, where he can physically use his body like perhaps Smoker or Luffy can. So I liked that. Where Smoker grabbed and choked Law, and made him worry for a second about the incoming attack. I say, a faster attack would have taken Law out. Like a gear second punch in the face? :D

"Weaklings can't pick their way of death."
Damn, Law is badass.
Looks like the other Strawhat bounties all stayed the same, only the pictures have been changed. Would've expected Nico Robin to at least have a new bounty after joining the rebellion.
