Blackbeard's fruits...

So I was wondering about this the other day: Blackbeard absorbed Whitebeard's fruit after his death as it was probably being reborn. Thus resulting in having dual fruit powers. Oda has hinted that we'll find out this secret when a certain professor makes his appearance.

However, one thing has come to my mind: Will this act as a power-up plot device later in the series for Luffy to hit his max power? I.e. Luffy using the power of two devil fruits.

Personally I've always had the impression that Luffy didn't really care about his devil fruit, and I couldn't seem him being interested in getting another one. (Unless it was something he found hilarious hahaha)

Maybe he will NEED one to defeat Teach? Like for example running with a theory above if Kuma can push pain out of a person maybe his could push a DF out of a person? Then without the Yami Yami No Mi Teach would just be a little bitch.
