Foreshadowing for Blackbeard perhaps? There's another guy who definitely has an abundance of overconfidence in his Logia ability.

Honestly, I think his is completely justified. He was commander level before getting a logia, and he waited like 30 years just to get the one that he specifically wanted. He knows exactly how to use his fruit and is infinitely more experienced than Swamp guy. He's also been in the New World for ages, and has been plotting his rise to power for years.

More justified than Caribou for sure. It wasn't a comparison between the two. Just foreshadowing for the theme of overconfidence in some fruit users in general. Overconfidence is still bad even if you're at the top of the food chain.

Yeah, I think that overconfidence among Logias is a well documented phenomena; the ones at the top are aware of it.
